The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 910XT GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
I bought this watch because I needed to change from the 405, which though it's a good watch doesn't have as many features and the touch screen is actually a negative when you're sweating.
The 910 is awesome and does pretty much anything a beginner triathlete needs.
Pool swim - The watch actually provides much more data than one probably uses, but I routinely would lose track of my laps prior to using the watch. With it on, I just hit the button when I start and it alerts me when I hit my marks.
Running - It's much better data with the GPS on, but the ability to check your pace is great. Also, you can set it to vibrate alerts for distance and time so that even if you're doing a tempo run or intervals, you can still listen to music without worrying about missing an alert to change pace.
Biking - I don't really use the bike functions other than time because I have a computer on my bike and I didn't buy the accessory to attach to the bike.
In open water, the GPS doesn't work great because it loses track when your hand is under water, but it still keeps track of your distance and time, which is the only thing that matters for me.
Overall, a great watch if you're a triathlete, beginner or pro. If you're only running or biking, then it's probably way more than you need and you can get the same data from much cheaper watches. It's handy if you're in the pool a lot for laps and stroke rate.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 910XT GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
While it is probably overkill for me and my capabiliities, I only wanted to make one purchase in hopes that I'll expand my activities. This is the product that seems to cover everything I'd want to do. I like that it give me lots of information that I intend to use to improve my fitness and run times.
I did have to go online to find the manual to figure out more of its capabilities, and I'm still not sure how to use downloaded training events. Need a manual on how to use it, not just how to work it.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 910XT GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
I love using this watch to train. It was as easy to use as opening the box and putting it on. Very easy to figure out settings, changing sports, looking at your workout history and tracking totals. This is my second Garmin but my Forerunner is 6 years old. I couldn't believe how much smaller and better the technology has become. I use it six days a week to tracking my runs and cycling. The battery life is amazing!

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 910XT GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
Got this for tri training and loved it. The swimming mode is a little tweaky, but still worth using. I figure they'll improve this over time. It was great for running & biking until I did the firmware upgrade from 2.4 to 2.5.
After the upgrade to firmware 2.5 the watch has these problems:
1) randomly turns off
2) battery life is off (barely lasting through a 9 mile run on some days, fine on other days)
3) weird speed spikes in the data
4) elevation data is completely wrong. (shows that I finished below sea level when my finish is at 300 feet. Also showed me an eleveation gain of 4000 feet on my last training run, when it should have read 850 feet)
Before the upgraded firmware I didn't have any of the issues and loved the watch. Now my data is all messed up for marathon training & I'm not sure if it's worth returning or exchanging it.
Garmin support says they can't downgrade the firmware back to version 2.4, so if you get the watch don't upgrade the firmware.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 910XT GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
I get by with using this as my one and only training watch for tri/multisport, for the most part. Indoor swim function, ok, open water more accurate. Bike function, gives u what u need. Run function, good. Setting up a ski function tracks data well and holds up in pretty cold temps.
As with many GPS wactches the only down fall is the charging of the watch. If you decide to go on a multiday training camp off in the woods, unfortuantely you can't depend on this as your everyday watch unless you have a charging supply.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 910XT GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
I primarily run, and this device locates GPS pretty quickly and has been easy to program for various alerts, some are preset, like mileage, others can be customized, like for hydration. It was also easy to set-up pace runs, intervals and custom workouts. Although it's a large device, which makes it easy to see on the run, it's been comfortable to wear.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 910XT GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
I finally took the plunge and purchased the Garmin 910xt and don't regret it yet. Personally, the 910xt replaced 2 fitness Garmin units (Forerunner 405 & Edge 305). First time out of the box for use was in an Olympic distance triathlon and it performed quite well. All the metrics were displayed clearly and were easy to access. The customization of the display and alerts is a helpful feature.
Swimming uses - So far, the swim features look to be pretty useful as in a pool it will count the number of strokes per length, stroke type, and laps (I lose count on my own). Useful for those that are a bit of a nerd and like to see that kind of data
Cycle uses - The usual cycle metrics + having power capabilities is nice. I'm looking forward to using the ANT+ power features to take my cycle leg to a higher level.
Run uses - It's nice to see that there's a run/walk interval timer available on this as for marathon training this is the strategy I use.
Misc - The HR strap is more comfy than the previous generation. Battery life is pretty nice now. I've tracked about 20+ activities and only need to charge the unit 2x. Granted I left it on for several hours after my workout so if you're diligent on power button its good.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 910XT GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
I've had this for more than a month now. Previously I used a Polar RS800SD.
Pros:
- Easy to transfer data to computer - its wireless and takes no effort after the initial set-up.
- Its easy to use in terms of setting up data fields, changing various settings, and chaning between sports.
- Batttery life is great - just did the STP in one day and still had plenty battry life left.
- Because it uses ANT+, which has become a common standard, it is much more versatile than Polar.
Cons:
- Altitude sensor is useless - my STP ride showed more than 8000 feet of climbing, even though it should be just over 4000. Interestingly even after using the altitude correction in Garmin Connect, it still showed virtually the same value - must be a bug and hopefully can be fixed, otherwise I'll want an exchange.
- Sometimes on bike rides the unit will stop and auto-resume instaneously and repeatedly while I'm moving. The auto stop feature is only supposed to kick in when I stop, so something is not right but not clear what.
- OW swim accuracy, or rather the lack of it, is annoying, although its better than nothing.
- Running speed sucks if you rely on GPS alone, but fixable with the shoe speed sensor.
- Chest strap has excellent form factor but prone to wildly inaccurate readings in the first several minutes - I rinse it under running water to really soak it before wearing to try to avoid the issue. In contrast, my Polar strap is fuss free and also very comfortable.
- The training effect feature is garbage. The value will get to the maximum of 5 very easily - supposed to get more accurate with more usage but it sure is a long wait!
Bottom line, I quite like it for tracking my workouts because of the simplicity. But for the money, I expected much better. If only Polar would put a GPS sensor in their watch and switch to using ANT+, I'd switch back in a heart beat.
