Comments about Kelty Junction 2.0 Child Carrier:
Solid piece of equipment, something that I felt my child was very secure in. Waited until 6 months to use, though she still will list to one side. Straps and waist belt are very well padded, and though you know the weight is there, it is not painful.
Note that because of the framing of the pack, and the extra weight of the child, an additional person should be used to mount the pack onto the carrier. Also, somewhat disappointed that there was no area for a camelbak pouch, but not a dealbreaker. Would recomend the sun-shield attachment, which is seperate, but not required.

Comments about Kelty Junction 2.0 Child Carrier:
My wife and I love this product. We wanted something that was more comfortable for our 1 year old son and for us that we could upgrade to after realizing how much our son liked the Baby Bjorn and a carrier my wife liked to use.
We wanted something that was safe, comfortable, and of good quality that would be good for our walks around the neighborhood as well as the occasional walking trail in nearby parks. We feel that our boy is safe, comfortable. The pouches are nice for carrying keys and other things. The built in frame is good for stabilizing the pack to get him in and out easily.
We passed on awesome but higher end hiking carrier that would have looked silly around the neighborhood. This pack looks fine for everyday use and some light hiking.

Comments about Kelty Junction 2.0 Child Carrier:
Used this last summer with my six month old, tried to put her in it this year and she no longer fits. At 34" tall and 27 pounds, this pack is too small for her and digs into my shoulder blades. Hurt my neck when we used it last summer but we didn't use it much so it wasn't a big deal.
Great thing about rei is I returned it with no questions asked and bought the Deuter Kid Comfort II. The new pack cost twice as much but I wish I'd just spent the money for a good pack last year. The Deuter has plenty of room for my daughter to grow. Thinking she might even fit in it next summer.

Comments about Kelty Junction 2.0 Child Carrier:
We got this later than we should have. I bought it when my son was already approaching 30 pounds. Had we started using it earlier, it would have been perfect. After he hit 30 pounds, it was too heavy for me (although my husband had no problem...reminded him of carrying his pack on humps). I really liked it though. It fit comfortably on my shoulders with the waist band distributing some of the weight. It wasn't as bulky as the other Kelty backpacks with the frame, which I find to be a huge plus! From personal experience, I know it fits in the overhead compartment in a plane, or under the seat in front of you. The reason I give it only four stars is due to two problems we faced with ours: (1) the backpack was oddly shaped so it was difficult to fill it with our necessary items in a way where the bottom of the bag would collapse on itself when my son was in the seat portion. So, I didn't find the backpack as useful as it could have been in theory. I ended up just stuffing it with diapers and wipes and hanging anything else needed on the straps with carabiners; and (2) there is a mechanism on the backpack that adjusts the height of the lumbar support padding. It's a key-type mechanism that requires a pull and a twist to adjust height. For us, as my son got heavier, that key mechanism would adjust itself and the lumbar support padding would shift into an unconfortable position that would require taking off the backpack and repositioning it. Perhaps ours just malfunctioned (in which case, I'll take back to REI to tell them). I just wanted to point that out. Other than that, we love this backpack and look forward to using it for our next ones.
