Small, light and bright, the compact Petzl Zipka® Plus 2 headlamp features the Zip retractable cord system, allowing the headlamp to be worn on your head or wrist, or attached to a tent pole.
- Zip Dyneema® retractable cord allows the headlamp to be worn on the head or wrist, or attached to any other support, such as a tent pole or bicycle seatpost
- Single high-output LED provides even, white lighting throughout your field of vision with no blank spots in the beam; special lens optimizes the reach of the beam to 40m
- Red LED positioned to the side of the white LED lets you preserve your night vision or use the headlamp as a blinking light to increase your visibility in urban environments
- Push-button switch easily changes between 3 white lighting modes (high, low and flashing) so you can choose the appropriate light level for the task at hand
- Also change between 2 red lighting modes (continuous and blinking)
- White light on low level provides up to 185 hrs. of use and on high up to 58 hrs.
- Hold down the on/off switch to change between red and white lighting modes
- Battery charge indicator light comes on when the beam distance diminishes to 5m and when there is only 50% battery life remaining for proximity lighting
- Provides IPX4 water resistance for reliability in inclement weather
- Runs on 3 AAA alkaline batteries, included; Zipka Plus 2 works with lithium batteries, which are lighter weight than alkaline batteries and perform well in cold temperatures
- Battery compartment is hinged to allow simple access; compartment closes easily and securely
- Compatible with the Petzl Core rechargeable battery (sold separately), which eliminates the need to keep buying new batteries
- Add the Petzl Adapt Tikka 2 system (sold separately) to quickly and easily attach the light in a variety of places, including helmets and backpack straps

I had this headlamp for a day and returned it. It always felt as though it wanted to fall off your head. It is held around the head by a simple string. I get that someone was trying to design a compact design but it failed in my opinion. I guess this might make a good emergency headlamp to put in your cars glove compartment.

My old cheep headlamp did not last long and I wanted to replace it only once. I did my research and found this hot little item. I love the retractable cord system on this light weight head lamp. You can put it on almost anything. I have used it camping, end of the day rock climbing when we got caught packing up in the dark, durring Super Storm Sandy with all the power outages and home electric repairs in the dark. My next purchase will be assesories for it like the Petzl Poche Zipka 2 Headlamp Pouch to keep it safe. Thanks Petzl! You done good.

Perfect little light. The retractable band keeps its footprint small. The option to run white or red light at two different brightness settings is fantastic. I think it is the ideal compact headlamp. Great balance of size, power, and utility.

I recently got this light just before a backpacking trip because my previous Petzel, which I also loved, couldn't be found. This is a great little light. The white mode is extremely bright, great for hiking in the dark, however it was the red light that sold me on this light. It makes talking to people at night less painful, since you're not constantly blinding everyone. I found it useful for sitting around the campfire since the red mode gave off enough light so you could see what you were eating or reading, but didn't disturb the group. The fact that the light remembers which mode you were last using is night, so you don't accidently turn on the bright white mode in the tent. I'm also a fan of the retractable cable strap since it makes the light small enought to keep in your pocket.
I've only used it on one trip, so I can't comment on longevity or battery life, but if it's like other Petzels I've used in the past, I'm sure it will hold up fine.
The only thing I would add would be the ability to change the vertical angle of the light, a feature available on the model that comes with the full head strap. Sometimes you have to hold your head at an odd angle to shine the light were you need it.

LOVE this headlamp. So compact for when I travel, does not have a ton of useless features, comfortable to wear. I use the red LED when reading at night so I won't disturb others in the room. It won't light up the side of a barn, but is totally sufficient for daily use. Sometimes I wear it on my wrist, or when showering in the bush it will secure itself on a branch. Self adjusting, so it goes from my head to my kids head with no effort. At times my fingers have a hard time finding the switch, but that is a small thing.

I needed a compact headlamp that I could permanently keep in my fishing bag. I love to fish til dark and often found myself struggling to tie on flies at dusk. This lamp is compact, the retractable chord works great (so far), and the red light function is perfect for what I do. I use the red function to get my flies tied on and get right back to fishing without compromising my night vision. The white beam is also pretty darn bright for walking down dark trails.
Bottom line: It's a little spendy for a headlamp, but is perfect for my needs.

I got this for my husband at Christmas because he works the night shift on our truck, we are over the road truck drivers. This is very light weight and I thought the "cable" would be tight, but it was really quite comfortable. He has used this in a couple of blizzards this year so far and it has worked great! We like the adjustability of the cable as it can go over any of our hats. Also, it stores so small that it's hard to find in the glove box. There is nothing we can not like about this light, as a matter of fact I plan on ordering 2 more. I also purchased the recharger, but haven't had to use it yet as the batteries have not run down yet.
