The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
Rated5out of5byBig StevefromRXP reliable, fixed failed XP cord issue@Peacewalker, the cord failures were on the old Myo XP. Petzl fixed the problem with a protective ferrule on later XPs and the RXP (which is the lamp subject to these reviews). @ctm, try duck tape.
Great headlamp. Most reliable headlamp I've used. Oodles of power. I'll continue to use lighter (e.g., 3xAAA or singleAAA) for some trips.

Rated3out of5byjjadventuresfromOK but there are better lampsHad this lamp for several years and paid good money for it. It works ok and is quite powerful. However, on new batteries the lowest setting is still too bright for simple around camp work or if you just want to read at night.
The most irksome feature of this lamp is the light disperser - when in the flipped down position, the small nub on it reflects light straight into the eyes of the wearer. It takes some tweaking to get that adjusted and one has to constantly think about it.
The 'safety switch design' that is supposed to prevent turning on when packed is not reliable, I had the lamp turn on several times on me while packed. Ultimately, after a few years of occasional use, the connection of the wire coming into the lamp unexpectedly and with no abuse went bad (intermittent) and rendered the lamp completely useless thus I had to use my backup light on the entire trip.
The design overal could be improved and made more user-firendly and robust. I am replacing it with another brand.

Rated2out of5byPeacewalkerfromBeware of cord that connects to lampI have purchased 2 Petzl Myo headlamps over the past 8 years. The lamps operated well in the woods and on night time runs for 3 years each in all kinds of weather. Then they both malfunctioned after 3 -4 years of use. The wire connection inside the lamp has come loose somehow and the headlamp will not function unless the wire is wiggled. The lamps were in excellent condition and not overly used. Both died a little over 3 years after purchase and Petzl refused to repair them. After spending top dollar for these lamps, they should not malfunction after 3-4 years of use. I would not buy another Petzl headlamp unless the company decides to stand behind the headlamps they produce.

Rated5out of5bymurphy_jrfromShines above the rest!I work in the technical rescue field and have used many headlamps ove the years. They never seem to be bright enough or the battery dies really quickly and on high beam setting, or the beam it self is to wide or narrow. This headlamp has it all. The beam is adjustable, the batteries are common batteries not 123 batteries which is awesome. The high beam is super bright. I dont even need a spot light anymore when im using this headlamp duck hunting to find my duck blind out on the water in the early morning.Another great thing is that the buttons are bigger so if you have gloves on they can easily be felt and operated with heavier gloves on. Yes it is a tad bulky, not for the ultra light minimalist user, but its a spot light on your head what do you expect. If your looking for a rugged super bright head lamp, this is it!

Rated5out of5bytaybaymanfromSolidA girl I was dating gave me this a couple years back before I left on a trip of mine. I thought it was a nice gift but I didn't realize how useful and reliable this thing would be. I have had this guy on three continents and endless adventures.
The biggest testimony to this headlamp is on a Tuk Tuk (google it) ride in Cambodia. We had a two hour round trip ahead of us and we started at about midnight. Being a super rough dirt road, all of the bumping made the Tuk Tuk's light go out. It was then I pulled out this baby and used to for the next hour and a half as a headlight for the vehicle. Needless to say we didn't crash or hit anyone or anything. This headlamp rose above and beyond the call of duty.
I simply don't go on any adventures without it.

Rated4out of5byOtto the Corgifromgreat headlampI just got the myo RXP in the mail. Its feels exactly the same as the older MYO XP, but its much brighter. Compared to the MYO XP, this lamp has a brighter, wider beam and it's regulated output is awesome! My older MYO XP dimed over time which, as you know, gets annoying.
The boost mode on the old XP makes the light brigher in any mode, but that doesn't occur with the RXP which was confusing to me so I emailed petzl customer service to make sure my RXP light was functioning properly.
Note: For the RXP, the boost mode does not work on levels 9 and 10 as stated in an email that I received from petzl:
"The boost mode does not work in modes 9 and 10 because it would drain the batteries very quickly, overpower the circuitry, and get the ;lamp very hot. The lumen difference between those modes and boost is fairly negligible, so I don't think you'll have too much trouble there."
That explanation makes sense and overall, I love my new headlamp!
