Comments about Deuter Futura Pro 38 Pack:
I bought this for hiking Kilimanjaro. I needed something with more room than my small daypack, but something smaller than my normal backpack. This fit the bill perfectly. It performed flawlessly on my practice hikes - I loaded it up with dumbells wrapped in towels. There are as many adjustments on this pack as on a full sized backpack, so you can tune it to fit very snugly, but comfortably. On the Kili hike, it was great - other hikers had some back or other discomfort with their packs - I felt very comfortable with the Deuter. I used it with a 100 liter water bladder. Plenty of room for everything I needed to bring on the hike, and plenty of room on the way down when I had to stuff my down jacket and other layers back in the pack.
This thing has lots of pockets/compartments that are easy to get into. I really like the way the hiking pole attachments are set up, and there are lots of loops for hooking other things (like a portable solar panel) to. The air-comfort suspension works great - very breathable - took this on some hot hikes this summer, and this pack is much cooler than my other packs - great ventilation. It also performed well as a travel/carry-on and fits easily into the overhead bins.

Comments about Deuter Futura Pro 38 Pack:
This pack has everything you need for a day hike or a light overnight hiking trip. The rain cover that is included makes it very easy to pull it over the pack quickly if need be. I would recommend this pack over and over again.

Comments about Deuter Futura Pro 38 Pack:
I bought this pack with my 20% coupon, so the price was perfect. The pack is great for a weekend backpacking trip or week of travel. I found that if you pack right, this little pack will hold everything you need for a 10 day vacation. It also slims down great, so when you only have a 1/4 filled pack, it can be cinched down so it is not bulky and awkward. This pack has a lower compartment which is ideal for packing a sleeping bag, however it does take some patients squeezing a 15F bag into the compartment. I would recommend this pack to anyone interested in a pack for a long weekend trip.
Service and delivery comments:
I bought this at the REI Seattle store. The help there was great. Fitted me with a couple of packs and loaded them with ~30lbs to test them out. This pack fit like a glove; I carried this pack for ~3hrs with 30lbs before I decided to buy it.

Comments about Deuter Futura Pro 38 Pack:
I own a large deuter and the futura pro 42 from deuter as well. This one on display is the 38 model, which replaces the 42 model.
The suspension and design is beyond compare! The pack shifts with your body language and movement, thus you never lose your balance.
This design denies body fatigue from pack shifting induced energy through movement.
When properly adjusted for your biological frame, which REI does very well, the pack after the idea of weight settles in with you; just about dissappears from your mind.
This type of pack is good for an over night affair in the woods, or even two days worth of activities.
If you are a "light" packer, this is good for about five days with certain sacrifices.
What is really nice about this product line, is the bio - ergonomics are unisex, so that an aux pair may "cross dress" with aplomb.
This is a trully three dimensional product, which has evolved to the pentultimate status of a do it all with no problems pack.
All for a reasonable price point. Thanks REI!!
