Comments about Keen Voyageur Mid Hiking Boots - Men's - 2011 Closeout:
I have these boots over a month. They fit me like gloves right out of the box. I tried them out on a short hike about 3 to 4 miles. They were so comfortable: light, breathable, roomy in the toe box and well constructed. They were durable and provided good protection for my feet.

I bought a pair of these boots on sale to have on hand when I wear the heels off my Merrell boots. I put these on to test the fit and haven't worn the Merrells since.
I used to have good luck with Merrells but this time they seem too narrow and put the sides of my feet to sleet. When I put the Keens on I could immediately feel that they were wider in the front of the foot. I don't know if the Merrells are not as wide as they should be or if the Keens are wider han they should be but I have a new favorite boot, at least for the time being.
My only complaints are that the footbed doesn't seem to be well padded and the tongue feels funny. It feels like I am standing on steel plate or concrete. Eventually I will get a liner that has more padding. The tongue doesn't stick far enough above the top of the boot for my liking. I am always afraid the laces are going to roll off it onto my ankle. It also seems to be putting pressure on the front of my ankle where it ends on the inside of both feet. Still I pound the city streets in these boots every day.
I haven't used them in wet weather but they look like they will have good traction in mud or snow.

I have worn Keen Voyageurs boots/sandals for three years & very satisfied. Quick to break in; comfy wide foot/toe box; durable enough for everyday workplace/pavement as well as for trail/off-trail. Sorry to see Keen closeout this style, I enjoy these for their breath-ability rather than gortex.

I use these shoes for different types of hikes. Anything from 1-2 miles to a full-day hike. So far they have been great.

Comments about Keen Voyageur Mid Hiking Boots - Men's - 2011 Closeout:
I have problem feet. I've usually used to much boot to compensate for this--most recently struggling with the long break-in and non-flex of some very expensive Limmers. However, as I live in Israel, these boots are very warm for most of the year. So, I figured that I would give these a try as breathable summer hikers. My first long walk had my feet hurting. I added some heel pads as I felt that part of the problem was the lack of a noticable raised heel. This was a big improvement for me. I have now worn them on a number of day hikes--some on very tough terrain--and they are very good. I did twist an ankle a bit in them--but that's because I didn't tighten them up enough.
I'll wait to see how they hold up--but at less than $80 bucks, I'm not expecting years of use.
Fit--I have slightly wide feet--sometimes too wide for regular, but often a wide is too sloppy. These work well for me. I ordered both a 10 and a 10-1/2 and the second fit. There was a very big size difference between the two--a large jump for a half size. Curious.

I bought these boots to suplment my water proof work boots which are naturaly HOT.
The Keens are great well made boots that keep my feet much cooler while I'm punding around on sun baked concret all day.
The padding & insole have sofar been very comfortable with no break-in time required. They were comfortable right out of the box.
But make no mistake if you are cought out in the rain or step in a puddle you will get your feet wet

A a middle-aged parent the ruggedness of my adventures is not what it was twenty years ago. That said, it should not take a great deal to make a shoe that is up to the task. Keen has made a very comfortable shoe, but has made little effort towards the durability.
I used this shoe for very casual day hikes and also wore them to work (I'm a high school teacher, not too demanding on the shoes!). On a recent trip to Utah these shoes came unglued, literally! We were hiking a very modest 3-5 miles per day and the soles of my boots began to peel off! Very sad. Also the heel seam began to shred! I've never had a shoe cave in to such casual use!
Don't buy these if you intend to do anything outdoorsy. If you just want some cool-looking and unusually comfy shoes to teach in..then these are the ones!

These boots are great. I love the design and they are very comfortable. They breath well (as my feet sweat at least twice normal people's feet, this is important to me.)
My only complaint, is that the top of the back of the boot rubs my Achilles(sp?) tendon. I've done some long hiking on rough terrain and it has never blistered, but certainly feels raw.
