Comments about Garmin GPSMAP 62s GPS Bundle:
I used it for a 110 mile remote float trip in Alaska, and locally for hikes in CA. The garmin download that came with the bundle is fine, seems to have every address for every street in the whole state (more than I need, but I'll take it since it came with it); not that current for businesses loaded onto it (seens to be ~2009 or earlier) You can download other free and commercial maps onto this device and they work OK. It took some hours to complete downloads into the chip. No signif issues with use functions; much better than my old Garmin 12; need to use it to learn it; IMO very good support from Garmin for any questions. I don't use the carabiner clip or the case (bought the "other" garmin zip case for it). Good battery life on lithium. Bright screen. No issues with water resistence. I like it.

Comments about Garmin GPSMAP 62s GPS Bundle:
1st Garmin was an E-trex. Tried to find a drop in for canyoneering in Utah. It identified a spot equidistant between 2 canyons - one expert only and the other intermediate. Had to cancel trip as to error was very dangerous. With new 62s try this. Let the GPS Track you for a minute then try to delete that Track. After all you don't need a track moving around in the store. You'll get a message saying "Are you sure you want to delete the Track?" Try choosing 'Yes'. It will take between 50 and 250 pushes of the button before it will initiate the button. I've returned 3 of these to REI thinking there was something wrong. Finally called Garmin. They said "too bad buddy, we don't want anyone accidentally deleting something". VERY, VERY annoying.

Comments about Garmin GPSMAP 62s GPS Bundle:
Very short battery life as otheres have said. Even with the 24K map download (which basically takes the entire memory capacity), there are very few trails shown. An example, I cold not find the Waldo Canyon trail, which used to be a heavily used trail prior to its closure from the fire. Basically worthless for finding trails, does a good job of showing where you went, seems to be accurate.

Comments about Garmin GPSMAP 62s GPS Bundle:
We've owned the Garmin GPSMAP 62SC for about 6 months and love it so it was a no brainer to go with another Garmin GPSMAP when we decided we just couldn't share the 62SC anymore. The GPSMAP 62 units are easy to use and become familiarized with. They offer great accuracy and quick signals. This bundle worked out perfect. It has everything you need and nothing that you don't. We knew the case and carabiner were must haves since we have both for the 62SC. We had been wanting the 24K mapping because it contains more trails and wish it wasn't specific to the new unit only. We use both GPS units for geocaching, hiking and biking.

Comments about Garmin GPSMAP 62s GPS Bundle:
I use this mainly to track where I have been for backpacking, hiking, and riding dirt bike to share with people I am with during the event and others who are curious about my adventures. Receiver is very sensitive, it will find satellites inside the concrete building where I work.
This device comes in handy and becomes a necessity rather than a toy if I suspect I am traversing in a wrong direction. I can quickly correct my route , much easier than interpreting a topo map.

Comments about Garmin GPSMAP 62s GPS Bundle:
I am a day trip hiker in the Seattle area. We mostly do hikes in the Snoqualmie and Steven's Pass regions. I generally do 6-10 mile round trip hikes with 500'-3500' elevation gain.
So far I have just used this GPS to track my stats: elevation, speed, moving/resting time, etc. I have yet to figure out how to set up the routes function. I think it would have been pretty useful when trying to find some of the more obscure trailheads.
The BaseCamp software for the computer is pretty cool. It is a lot easier to review your hike on that than on the unit. Unfortunately, unless the unit is hooked up to the computer, you can't view the topo maps that you've downloaded.

Comments about Garmin GPSMAP 62s GPS Bundle:
After losing my 60csx, I thought that this would be a logical, and easy upgrade. The controls are actually a lot different than the 60csx, and it took quite awhile to get used to. I loved the calibration sequence that required a roll, end over end, and a sweep. Accuracy is phenomenal! Also, the supplied gear in the bundle package is not worth the extra cost. I ordered a different "rhino" cover, after I found the supplied clip bulky and pretty much useless. The 24k and satellite CD's were also VERY disappointing, and nothing close to what I had expected. I would seriously recommend buying the 62s only, and adding any other accessories from different vendors. I'm finally getting better at pulling up the info that I need, and I've been very pleased with this GPSr so far. Skip the bundle frills, and buy the better add-ons, and you'll happily save some bucks! ~J
