Comments about REI Comfort LTG Armchair:

I sat on every chair REI offers and this was the best for the value. This chair has lumbar support, reclines, is tall enough to rest my head, and has arms to rest my arms. It is so comfortable and I am so pleased with this purchase. The chair is a smart design with fun color options. We also got foot rests as well and the combination together is perfect for chillen out, resting, reading a book, playing travel scrabble! My only issue as a New Yorker was storage space and weight but was the right price point for us and I have no regrets. We were undecided btwn this chair and the Alite Mantis Chair which is so rad, compact and lite, but left your head and arms with no where to go and was double the price. Hope this helps!!

Comments about REI Comfort LTG Armchair:

I recently purchased a pop-up beach shelter and need a lower chair. After searching around the net and trying the display items at several stores I purchased this chair from REI. It was so new to the line-up that the San Francisco store didn't even have one out on display yet.

This low-sitting chair is *almost* perfect. It is super comfy. On my last camping trip my friend's mom kept raving about the chair so I let her use it most of the trip. Now, why is it almost perfect? Two reasons... Firstly, there is no cup holder. I'm guessing they didn't want some flimsy holder hanging off the side only to break off during transport. Second is the hinge bolts around the thigh are almost 1/2 too long so if you're wide enough like me you will feel them depending on your sitting position. They haven't snagged any clothing yet. I'm thinking about taking them off and reversing the mount then cutting the excess off with my trusty Dremel.

Comments about REI Comfort LTG Armchair:

I agree 100% with the reviews I've read so far about it being a bit bulky. I was going to get one of those chairs that folds up tight like an umbrella for size reasons, but when I sat in this chair compared to those, it was no contest. I watched tv in this just last night & loved the moveable pillow for lumbar support. The only downside to me was that it lacked cup holders on the arm rests. I asked the REI sales rep & she showed me a table that had cup holders to it. Problem solved. I couldn't be happier & would suggest this to anyone! I overheat easily in the summer & the see through breatheable mesh backing is another plus why I wanted to get this one. I'll update this if I change my mind on anything, but so far so GREAT. I only gave it a 4 star due to the fact it was a bit bulky, but luckily it has a chest strap.

Comments about REI Comfort LTG Armchair:

I tried out this chair a few weeks ago and found it amazingly comfortable. But, because of the weight and bulk, I decided to look around before purchasing. After testing a multitude of chairs, I didn't find any that came close. On the pro side are the movable lumbar/head pillow, armrests, ease of changing positions, and COMFORT!

I also found the GCI Outdoor Wilderness Recliner very comfortable (and lighter), but, for me, having to adjust the straps to change positions was a little too cumbersome.

This chair is 5 stars for comfort; I'd give it 4.5 if I could, downgrading it slightly because of the portability factor. This isn't a chair I'll be dragging around to events that demand lots of mobility, but it's great on my deck or for light/car transport.

      The jury is still out...

Comments about REI Comfort LTG Armchair:

The jury is still out on these chairs. I purchased 2 of these for a car camping trip at Inks Lake near Burnet, TX. The chairs are very comfortable, very large and recline to a solid napping position. They are so comfortable, in fact, that I grabbed one from the garage the other day to camp out in front of my TV and play some Xbox, then sat them out in the back yard to play with the puppy. I like the built in pillow and the fact that it can slide from pillow to lumbar support and you can remove it if you don't want to use it.

The downside to these chairs as a car camping and recreation use chair is that since they are only fold-up, they are not very compact. They fold to about 6" flat and that's it. If that's not a problem, then you have no reason to get these.

The reason the jury is still out is that I had to return one chair after our first outing because a rip was developing in the seat of the chair, near the very front where two layers of fabric were stitched together. There wasn't a hole forming, but the top lay of fabric was separating from the bottom layer of fabric. The only other possible issue is that the bolts that connect the arm rests to the front pivot point in the seat of the chairs sticks into the seating area of the seat about 3/4". If you are a very wide person, you may be able to feel the bolts or there is the chance that the bolts would rub a hole in the seating fabric. I plan to replace these bolts or cut off the excess to eliminate that possibility.
