Comments about REI Magma Sleeping Bag:
I'm 6ft, 180lbs and I bought the long. I used this bag during the winter on a backcountry mountaineering trip. Temperatures were in the low 20s and I was as warm as in my own bed at home. I'm a side sleeper and I tend to toss and turn a lot. I didn't have any issues fitting in the bag or moving around during the night. For me, winter trips always mean a lot of time in the horizontal position due to the limited day light. I actually spent 15hrs the first night in this bag and it was tough to get out in the morning!
The bag cinches up very tight around the face to keep all your heat in the bag. I was wearing long underwear, thick shirt, wool socks, and a balaclava and I was perfectly cozy. The stuff sack it came with was adequate for fitting into the sleeping bag compartment of my backpack. The zipper is first class and has no issues with snagging.
The light weight, waterproof fabric, and great warmth is pretty impressive for just one bag. REI gear just continues to get better and better.

Comments about REI Magma Sleeping Bag:
I've been through quite a few sleeping bags and never been satisfied. I'm actually warm in this bag! It is super comfy as well. Funny story - I had the bag shipped to where I thought id be but it was on backorder, so when it arrived i wasn't around for a week or so and it sat at my gate in THE RAIN! When i finally got there the box was soaked, and i was nervous cuz i was planning on using it that night. I opened the box and its "pillow bag" was also soaked - but guess what, to my surprise the bag was %100 dry! It's a perfect shell for the 800 fill down!

Comments about REI Magma Sleeping Bag:
This is a great product if used for right (cold) weather conditions. I used it in Alaska (mountains of Katmai National Park ) this June for about 3 weeks at and above snow line with sub 32 F night temperatures (about 40-45 F inside my tent)- It was too warm for me. So I had to use it almost all unzipped and my feet still felt too hot and sweaty. Almost every night I woke up by being too hot and had to bend knees to provide ventilation. Few night were OK when we were at high elevation and very humid conditions (clouds)with temperature far below freezing. Otherwise this is a great bag- it packs small, has room for boots inside (I am 7'1" and bought Long size), does not absorb moisture from inside and outside, breathable, attractive style and color, feels very fluffy and soft.
One small negative thing- I wish it has a compression stuff bag. It came with a regular stuff bag that is too large for it, so I had to buy a SeaToSummit medium size eVent compression stuff bag for it (an extra $35 cost).
Bottom line- It is a great sleeping bag if used for climbing and/or winter-like conditions. Do not take it with you where sub-season or summer-like conditions are expected- you will be baked alive.

The product is awesome all around! The only complaint I have is that it gets too warm when I'm using it in the summer.

Comments about REI Magma Sleeping Bag:
I recently bought this bag a couple months ago and couldn't be happier with a cold weather bag. I'm very impressed with how light-weight it is and durable. The rip-stop nylon is very strong just from the touch and the fill(how high the bag puffs up to) is thick. What I mean, is when you get into the bag, it expands and makes it look like it's filled with 6" of air around you. No joke, the fill in this bag is great. You won't be disappointed. I bought this bag for military use, because the Army issued bag is twice the size and weight as this one.

Comments about REI Magma Sleeping Bag:
Just received this bag a few weeks ago and went out last week with it. I am amazed at the warmth to weight ratio. I slept in a snow cave(Montana Rockies) with a bivy sack and thermarest and stayed nice toasty. Temps down to 10. I really like the outer shell, the hood and zippers are very functional.
