These are great hiking shoes for an afternoon jaunt or a backpacking trip. They are more lightweight than your average backpacking shoe (which I love, but it is not right for everyone) and have not given me a blister yet. I have been through mud and puddles and my feet have stayed dry. Overall, a great hiking shoe.

These quickly became my favorite pair of shoes. I used to dance and I have very weak Ankles so rolling them on the trail used to be a common occurrence. These boots have amazing ankle support without being too bulky or heavy. Not to mention they are perfectly waterproof. In snow, rain, and even shallow streams they kept my feet dry. It took a little breaking in before a pressure point was released on the top of my foot but after wearing them hiking around niagara falls for a weekend I haven't noticed that problem again. I will admit that I have not taken them on a backpacking trip yet however I am headed to denali soon and will let you know how they handle the wear and tear of a more rugged terrain.

I tried several pairs in the store and felt that these were the best in terms of traction and support. I have hiked in them a few times now and absolutely love them. Snow, mud, rocks, loose dirt, great for all of these. No break-in time, instantly comfortable. I was tempted by some more sexy looking pairs, but you just can't beat the level of comfort and functionality.

These are super comfortable boots! I'm not used to wearing shoes with ankle support like this, but I've had no trouble adjusting. The toe box is roomy without my feet swimming around. I like the all-leather design. I have even used this boot in the snow, and my feet stayed nice and dry (they did get a bit cold after a while though!)

After one week break-in, took these on an overnight backpacking trip. Got blisters on ball of feet where I have never gotten them. On a day hike yesterday, I was lacing up the boots and the first leather loop snapped as I was tightening the laces.
Very disappointed and will stay away from Vasque boots due to poor quality and poor fit for my feet.

I just returned from my first overnight backpacking trip---it was a 5 day, 4 night hike in the mountains in northern California. The terrain was moderate to difficult. I purchased these boots specifically for this trip. I did break the boots in mildly before the trip, just walking around town. These boots were excellent. It felt like I was walking in slippers. We had perfect weather so I can't vouch for the waterproof nature of the boots, but overall I would highly recommend these.

However, after wearing them around for a few days, it became clear they were way too small and uncomfortable for me. I just could not get them to fit comfortably.
