Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
Needed a new air mattress as my 20 year old Thermarest wasn't cutting it anymore. This is thick, and I love how the two outer air chambers are slightly larger thereby making it easier to stay on the pad. It takes me about 2.5 min to blow up, and it takes down much faster.

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
I'm getting back into hiking and backpacking and am changing out all the old equipment. I'm interested in taking advantage of newer lighter equipment technologies, but wouldn't consider myself to be a "competitive ultralighter" who is a slave to specifications. I was replacing a CCF pad and tried the Thermarest Neolite XL. At one pound for the long version, it looked great on paper but in reality I found the material to be too noisy and fragile. On whim, I ordered the Stratus in long. For a few more ounces, I got a much more comfortable pad that is silent and looks to be durable. I'd rather carry the few extra ounces and be able to sleep. As a bonus, its very reasonably priced - which always helps!

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
I bought this air pad a few days before going to Utah for a four day camping trip. I found it very hard to inflate it fully and would not want to do that every evening. I also found my elbow or knee going between the air channels and hitting on the ground. I have returned it and bought a different one.

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
10 breaths and you have a great sleep pad. Packs super small , well worth it's weight on a rocky bench, or crashing on a friends floor. All my other pads are sad to see it's arrival. I've never given 5 stars, this may deserve more.

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
I bought two of these pads, one regular and one long/wide. My son and I just used these pads for a 3-day backpacking trip and LOVED them. I am not huge guy and 20" wide pads are just too narrow for me to feel comfortable because I feel like my arms fall off the sides. The wide version of this pad is PERFECT! I can sleep on my back with arms at my side without my elbows hanging off the sides of the matress. I am very impressed by the weight and packed size of both pads, but especially with the wide/long pad. Its TOTALLY worth the extra ounces!
We have only used these once so I cannot comment on long-term durability, but they functioned perfectly on our trip. I am very pleased with the texture and feel of the fabric, and neither of us slid off of our pads (I've had that issue with my B.A. pad).
I really like the valve on this pad. Twist it to loosen it and then pull out to open and push in to shut. No more awkward twisting it while its in my mouth like I had to do with my last pad.
Overall I am very happy with these. Comfortable, compact, lightweight, impressive R-value, quality materials, great valve, and seem like they will last.

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
I wanted to move up to an air pad and read all the reviews and tried out several in the store. At this price, it can't be beat. It is just as comfortable as any other air pad (save for the Q Core perhaps) but it is lighter and cheaper. I've taken it out on four overnights so far and I have never slept better. I love it!

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
I am 6'4" 260lb fella and this pad fits me without a problem it does take a min to blow up but to me it's worth it cause it does pack down so small and is comfortable keeps me off the ground and warm, it's nice and wide so your arms arent sliding off while your trying to sleep. Seems to be durable and it's an REI product and they stand behind there equipmen because the quality is great. I sleep like a baby on this pad!

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
I've used a thick self inflating pad for years and was looking to drop several pounds but not loose any comfort for an upcoming 10 night backpacking trip. I bought the Stratus on the recommendation of an REI salesperson and it has been great for sleeping. The pad inflates easily with about 50 puffs, is very compact, and very comfortable. I highly recommend it.

Comments about REI Stratus Insulated Air Pad:
I'm a big guy and was initially concerned that 2.5" wasn't going to be thick enough to support my body. However, I liked the pack size and weight of this pad compared to the Big Agnes pads with an inch more thickness, so I gave the Stratus a shot. It proved to be very supportive--I didn't bottom out once. It was warm in 45 degree temps. I really like it.
