Osprey Poco Premium Child Carrier is rated 4.9333 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommended child carrier We have used this carrier on several outings and love it! The adjustable straps for me and my child were a requirement when I researched packs as well as the overall safety factor. Osprey has met my expectations with this product! As an active-duty Marine, we rely on packs that are ergomonic, especially in the aspect of where the pack contacts the body and the wear it may produce. Numerous packs offer the padding against the back and around the waist, which is comfortable in some conditions, but it does not allow for air flow in order to cool contact points. The webbing design of the Osprey is sturdy and allows an open-air condition to reduce sweat. This feature was one of the "selling factors." Yes, there are numerous child carriers on the market, but if you want what is best for your child, I highly recommend the Osprey Poco Plus or Premium. Even though she is only six months, my daughter squeals with excitement when I grab the pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent in All Regards This is a very high quality product. I was impressed right out of the box. Setup and sizing was a breeze, and it's easily adjustable for both me and my little girl as she grows. I've done a lot of backpacking, and this child carrier fits as well, if not better, than any pack I've ever owned. There is great separation between my little girl and my back, which keeps both of us from overheating. I live in a hot area, and have already used the pack on a 93 degree day with little to no shade. My little girl stayed cooler than I did. The sun shade is a breeze to use and does an effective job. She even fell asleep around mile 5 in the sun. The location of the hydration pack (sold separately) is great. I fill it with lots of ice, and it sits between my girl and I, running the length of her torso, which helps keep her cool- yet there is enough padding between that she doesn't get cold. Great ventilation where she sits. I have no trouble putting this pack on and off with her in it (strapped in of course), and the metal frame at the bottom is very sturdy to set her down anywhere semi-level. There is ample storage for an all-day adventure. My wife worries that my baby's head bobs around too much when I'm trudging up or down a hill and not walking gracefully, but my wife tends to worry about such things. I figure if the baby can fall asleep, she's not getting injured or uncomfortable. My girl was 9 months when we started using this pack, and her neck is strong enough that the bobbing doesn't cause any damage (time will tell ;-) I would not use this pack with a child under 6 months under any circumstances. I've tried doing a little light jogging, but it really did bounce her around too much and she cried a little. No more of that. My baby loves the pack. The sings in my ear while we hike, pulls my hair, and gives scalp massages. She lights up when I pull the pack out, and the only time she's every cried in it was about 10 minutes of uncomfortable jogging- which this is not intended for. She loves it. It's not cheap, but worth every penny. I would definitely recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth ... Every ... Penny Working as a fireman and carrying a 30lb breather teaches you to appreciate a good pack. The poco is worth every penny. I was using a Kelty Wanderer which was good, but now that my daughter is almost a year and 20lbs+, the Kelty was becoming very uncomfortable to wear. From reading all the reviews, it seems like all the available kid carriers in this class are good and you won't be disappointed with any, but after the 1st morning walk with kid and dogs in tow, I can say I believe this one is the best option. The Good ... - Very adjustable/very comfortable - Lots of storage/pockets - Holds kid securely - Well built, should last years - Sun shade is built into the carrier and is very lightweight - Well ventilated - Keeps the weight on your hips, and the shoulder strap adjustments allow perfect load control (the Kelty started messing with my back and shoulders, after this morning I could wear the poco for half the day and still feel good) The Bad (real small stuff, still a 5 star rating)... - Carrier and all adjustments are very stiff at first, this will change with use, just don't let it surprise you when you get it - The front pockets while a great idea and useful for most might be too small for some, the cell phone pocket won't fit anything larger than an iPhone and the front pockets seemed a little awkward to access and won't fit much either (didn't bother me, but just a heads up if you have one of those mini-tvs for a smartphone or want to carry more on your waist) - Wish they made it in green Overall, buy it, you won't be sorry, the Poco Plus will be perfect for most, the Premium is a little overkill, but everything else was out of stock and my back wasn't gonna wait another 2-4 weeks so I got the Premium in the Koala grey and am very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GOOD CHILD CARRIER Great pack. It's a little heavy, however, I think for its size, if it were lighter, then quality would be sacrificed. Only issue I had with it was at first when I would carry my gun on hip (on my pants belt) the hipbelt of the backpack was a little uncomfortable in that location (my other carrier a Kelty never was uncomfortable when carrying a gun), well come to find out, the hipbelt on the osprey has internal extenders that I hadn't pulled out. As soon as I did that, it had great comfort. There is an enormous amount of gear space in this pack. It's easy to use. It's comfortable for both the child and the adult. Definitely recommend. Great for older children(toddlers). Especially since they usually walk part of the time too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack. No regrets Love this pack - after the kid was born, its been hard to get out. Now I have no excuse! I've done more hiking since I've gotten in than I've done in the last 14 months, easy. I'm putting our 20 week year old in it and we have no issues. She's got a pretty strong neck, but she loves it. If she's not giggling and bouncing she's passed out. I'm so exciting this goes up to 50lbs - I have lots of hiking in the future!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Brilliant pack for my 18 month old I have taken the carrier out for a couple of walks of varying distances. Its super comfortable and keeps my daughter at a good height where she can see things, but isn't so much taller than me that I worry about walking her into low branches, etc. I added the optional hydration pack from the start and is perfect for both my daughter and I to drink from, she doesn't want her own bottle, she wants the hydration tube..... There are times when the sunshade comes in the way, and can hit you on the back of the head, but minor adjustments quickly resolve this. An all-round great product with plenty of space for foul weather gear for my wife and me, the rain cover for the pack and food, clothes, etc you need when taking your toddler for a hike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant Carrier We were given a cheap carrier that had "only been used once" by my wife's friend and it was obvious why, uncomfortable and poorly designed. The Poco is the polar opposite comfortable for father and son with plenty of storage and most importantly space for a hydration bladder. Furthest hike so far is up and down Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park with no issues. My son finds it so comfortable he sometimes likes to sit in it when we're at home!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would recommend to all My parents bought this for me on Christmas, my son was barley 4 months and it is recommended that you don't go on hikes until your baby sits up right or is at least 6 moths old. I have been using it to go around the house to get him used to it and he loves it. For those people that say that their kid doesn't like backpacks, I would recommend you start by putting them in the pack a few min at a time. We made the mistake of spoiling my boy to be carried all the time so he likes to be up and to be taken everywhere. It has helped me to be able to do chores around the house or even change while he is in the backpack. It is adjustable so I was able to make it a tighter fit, so he won't be wobbling all over the place. He will be 6 months in 4 more weeks and I can't wait to take him out. He feels very light in this backpack because it distributes the weight evenly using the waist clips.
