Comments about The North Face Mountain Manor 8 Tent:

Most tents that sleep 8 (which we all know really means sleeps 5 or 6 comfortably) are lower-end brand names that just don't have the quality North Face offers. Sadly, it hurts to pay this much (ouch) but it'll last a long time I'm sure. We've had ours 2 or 3 years now and are very happy with it. There are windows in the doors though higher up and only the top half opens for ventilation. This is frustrating (the only con) but at the same time does offer a lot of privacy and ventilation isn't an issue cause of the huge skylight and low windows by the floors and cross breeze. So there's not a lack of windows, just no big ones letting in the view, unless you completely unzip the doors and let the bugs in. All windows open or close completely which is so important cause when it's too hot for the rain fly, you still want some privacy. Amazingly easy to set up (have done it in the dark, without help) with simple design and color-coded polls/clips. My husband who's around 6'1 can stand up in it but it doesn't feel like the wind knocks it around at all - I think because of its well-designed, simple shape. Fits a queen air mattress in both of the side "rooms" if more privacy's desired (or you can make it one big room). Angles the walls in a bit when you use queens, making the center area a bit smaller but not terribly smaller. Lots of ways to do sleep configurations. It's heavy in the bag but it's definitely meant for car camping or setting up in the yard. Look for it on sale or use coupons or dividends, etc.

Comments about The North Face Mountain Manor 8 Tent:

I bought this for my first big camping trip with my wife and baby. Prior to this tent I only owned the cheap 4 man tents from [@]and always had a lot of trouble setting them up and they always seem to break after a trip or two. Here is how the very first time setting this thing up went (no I didn't do a dry run or even unpack the darn thing at home first:We are in Yosemite and it is pouring down freezing rain and its starting to get dark. We pull out the tent package and dump it out on the soaking wet ground. The directions are sewn into a flap on the main bag and are made of vinyl. We glance over the easy to read directions and start putting it together. In less than 5 minutes we have the whole thing up including the fly. The tent did get a little bit of water inside from before the fly got put on but it wasn't much considering how hard the rain was coming down. After the fly was on we didn't get any more water inside the rest of the trip. The tent is HUGE. Like I said I'm use to the cheapo 4 man tents and those things hardly fit 2 people. This thing can fit two queen size air mattresses in just the main room and still have the two side rooms empty. Everything was built to last. All the parts are very sturdy (including the stakes...those things are solid). When it came time to tear it down we had the whole thing back in the bag with room to spare in under 10 minutes.
