Comments about REI Traverse 30 Pack - Women's:
I bought this pack last year and it was great for a day hike to Mt. Rainier as well as other day hikes closer to home. This year I was able to comfortably use it on an intensive day hike near Lehigh Water Gap. I was a bit worried that being 6-months pregnant it would not sit right, cause rubbing, or be generally uncomfortable. Fortunately, it worked out great! I was able to comfortably wear the hip belt above my stomach and it even worked to take weight off my shoulders and back! This is a great pack for both pregnant and non-pregnant women!

Comments about REI Traverse 30 Pack - Women's:
I bought this as a gift for my daughter. She is almost 10 so being able to fit a small frame was key. She didn't want a "child" pack as she wanted the space to carry things and will be growing and would like to keep this for a while. I'm very pleased with the pack but she has not tried it yet so I didn't give it a 5 star. If it holds up as well as it looks like it will, I'd give it 5 stars.

Comments about REI Traverse 30 Pack - Women's:
I used the Traverse 30 women's pack on a 17 mile (RT) mountain ascent, which was completed as a dayhike. The pack was comfortable all day, and I had no back or shoulder pain. The design is great with lots of storage pockets. Hiking pole loops aren't advertised, but I was able to figure out how to use the ice axe loops to hold my poles. My camelbak bladder fit perfectly in the hydration pocket.
Something I can't stress enough is taking the time with an REI expert to figure out how to adjust the pack for your body. As the day wore on and my load became lighter, I made a few adjustments to the fit of the pack, which helped ensure comfort at all times.
The only problem you may encounter with this pack is if you hike in a tank top. I found the shoulder padding to be itchy when I was trying it on in a tank top, but I had no problem when wearing a t-shirt.

Comments about REI Traverse 30 Pack - Women's:
I originally bought the REI lookout that has a raincover but it was too big for me. I'm 5'3" and slim. So, I switched for this one that has a place to hold my trekking poles and a sleeve for my 3 liter hydration pack that was from my camelbak backpack. The camelbak that I got on sale didn't have a frame and created problem for my back when I carry heavy load and a full hydration pack. This Traverse is wonderful in that it has an internal frame so that my hydration pack is not sloshing around in my bag and creating creases which would create discomfort. I took this bag to hike the half dome and it worked very well. The side pockets were convenient for extra 1 L bottles and snacks. The front mesh pocket for multitool, map, jacket. The main compartment was not as big as I would like it to be but decent enough to carry sandwiches, fruit, emergency kit and blanket and water filter and steripen. The top pocket was decent for headlamp, wallet, matches, notepad, pen, etc. The hip pocket could be a little bit bigger but I did manage to put in my gps device there. My only wishes are that it has a raincover and more compartments. I like the fact that it's made out of recycled materials. I'm still searching for a raincover that would fit this 30L pack. REI doesn't seem to carry one. It has it for 20L and 40L but not 30L. I'm not sure why not. I misread originally and thought it had a raincover.

Comments about REI Traverse 30 Pack - Women's:
I found this to be a great daypack for my ascent of Mt. Marcy in the Adirondacks. I used it with a one-liter Platypus hydration system. There was plently of room for additional water bottles on the sides and front–I found the mesh pocket very convenient/easily accessible for a 32 oz. nalgene bottle. The waist strap has pockets perfect for a small camera/phone or headlamp and the few other items you'll want to take on a day hike will easily fit inside (remember, it is a daypack). I was most pleased with the curve of the back and cusioning, I barely felt it and did not sweat because contact was minimal. Looking forward to using on many more trips.

Comments about REI Traverse 30 Pack - Women's:
I really wanted this pack to fit for day hiking in Grand Teton National Park. The pack size, padding and pockets are great. But for a small waisted person, the waist belt does not cinch tight enough when on a snow slope or rough trail. Women's packs should have a waistband that starts at 26" to accommodate all women.
