I use these shoes to run on trails with my dog. I thought because my legs were always tired I was just getting old. Then I purchased these shoes and it totally relieved the tightness and fatigue in my legs and back. I tend to run more on the ball of my feet rather than rolling from heal to toe. These shoes feel light and comfortable.

This shoe handles casual and groomed trails fine. Very light and breathable. However,under intense trail running/racing the shoe felt unstable. 150+ lb runners will be irritated by the bigger trail rocks. Felt sketchy and unstable on medium sized rocks/roots. Shoe upper lamination sounded like wrinkling paper.

I believe a good test for a shoe is whether they still feel good after a ultra marathon. I was skeptical at first, but surprisingly they handled very well in the wet, muddy, rocky, sandy, hilly terrain. After the 50 miles they still felt very good. No pain no blisters, no worries about my feet.

I've been running in vibram five fingers for 2 years without injury - 10ks, half & full marathons. I decided to start transitioning to trail running and play it safe by getting shoes with more protection but still minimal on orthotics. I did my very best to like these shoes. I gradually increased use on a variety of surfaces over the course of a month. No matter what I did, they hurt until finally I wound up with inflammation of the plantar fascia and achilles tendon. Fortunately, I bought these at REI where I am a member and was able to return them without a problem. As soon as I heal I plan to buy the vibram trail runner - the spyridon - at REI, of course.

I have been wearing minimalist shoes for a couple of years now and never experienced any pain. A little foot fatigue maybe. I purchased these shoes to start training on trails and I had to take them off less than half a mile in because my feet hurt so bad and I was still walking! When I tried them on in the store they seemed very comfortable, a little cushy, but no real significant problems noticed. However, on the trail my midfoot/arch felt as though someone were trying to fold my foot in half. It maybe the support in that area is stiffer than the rest of the shoe or wearing Merrell Gloves and Vibram's has trained my foot to flex in a different manner. Be wary if you are going from a minimalist/barefoot shoe to this.

These shoes were awesome! I used them for a Mud Run event. They stayed on throughout the entire time without the need for tape or having to be adjusted during the run. These shoes are very light weight, had good traction, and didn't absorb much water. Although they are very comfortable and have great cushion, I wish they had a little more arch support.
