            Waist seems to run small. But the built in padding hit in all the right spots to provide a comfortable ride. Note of warning... If you have hairy legs expect your hair to protrude through the fabric. It can look like the fabric is frayying but it actually is not.

              I finally decided to man up and buy a set of spandex cycle shorts and I'm glad I did! I just got home from a 20 mile ride and I feel like I can head back out and do another 20. Chafing is nonexistent with these shorts and there is plenty of padding for your sit bones and other goods. The material is also very breathable and keeps you cool.

                Over the years I have tried all price ranges and styles but I keep coming back to these shorts which were "my first". The REI branded short has always had just the right amount of padding for my long (60-10 miles) rides, and are comfy enough for shorter rides too of course. They are sturdy, fit my size well (5'11", ~170). I have tried bibs and high end Pearl Izumi, Canari, and Cannondale shorts, but these are still my favorites.
