I bought this to charge my HTC Android phone when hiking. I was in exposing the panels to the sun for at least 8 hours a day. The device never charged full and could never charge my phone. It did charge my small MP3 player though. To test I put it in the sun for 3 days and could not get it to charge more than 50%.

After I use at home/office for 2 weeks, It won't charge by Sun anymore. I never went camp and only use at office/home/train(btwn office&home). I charge this over night usually cause I know it charges slowly.
So I got new one again. and it's almost 3 months. and It won't charge by solar panel again. :( This product isn't last long. I have GoalZero. and I use this long trip with car. and It is charging very well. I recommend anyone think solar panel. Just go for GoalZero. Not this one.

I really wanted this to work, but after the initial charge powered my phone twice, it would not completely charge anything more. Days on end of clouds meant I was charging it on the USB from a PC. It would be connected all night and look "off" in the morning. I'd try to power up my smartphone and after about 10 minutes, it was out of power. Phone would say "39%" but be out of juice in 10 minutes. We finally had a sunny day and when I went to open the array, one of the panels broke off! Returned for a Nomad7. Hope it works better.
