REI Members get back an estimated $ 5.95 on this item as part of their annual member refund.

    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

by fromCompletely Useless I bought this jacket knowing I was going to be facing some inclimate weather on my bike. I was excited to use it, but when that weather hit I realized how useless the jacket was. It did not help protect much from the wind, and the light, steady rain that fell did not bead off, as described, but instead went straight through. The jacket then suctioned to my skin and held the water on my skin for the remainder of the ride.

by fromnot waterproof very basic, not for extensive cycling in the cold and rain, but compact, I'll give it that.

by fromReview edit Got to edit my review, below. It doesn't flap around too much if you put a Long Sleeve jersey and base layer underneath. I was trying it with just a short sleeve jersey, and that flaps around way too much at 20+ mph. For use with a short sleeve jersey, I think it's better just to go with a base layer that can be stowed in your jersey pocket when you heat up. Take this jacket only when you are already taking a long sleeve jersey, or something else long sleeved. All in all, a good, light weight extra layer that cuts the wind nicely and can be stuffed in your jersey pocket, for people who generally avoid the rainy days on recreational rides.

by fromGreat light weight jacket I like this jacket so much I bought one for my husband. He likes it because it is very light weight and can be stowed in a pocket or seat pack when not needed . It is also good in rain or wind. We almost never ride without them. I carry mine just in case I get cold. Great buy. I have washed mine numerous times and it looks great.

by fromGreat Product Very compact jacket. I started using it at the start of a bike ride, then when I began to warm up quickly and decided to remove the jacket, I can easily fold it very compactly and place it on a bike rack on my bike. Easily stowed away on the rack with lots of other room for my other gear. You may need to "flatten" it out after it's been folded for a while. But overall, I'm very satisfied with it.

by fromlight & compact, but not for wet weather It's lightweight and stows nicely, but is no more water resistant than a fleece. Expect to get soaked with 10 minutes of light rain, which is not good for a bicycle commuter on a schedule. I returned this after one wearing and am trying the REI Ultra Light Jacket. I would only recommend this for dry climates.

by fromGood for dry conditions I have owned this jacket for more than one year. On the positive side, it is very light weight, and windproof, and a good jacket for bike commuting on cool mornings. I also use it for running on cool days. The very lightweight fabric is very breathable, and the yellow color of my jacket is very visible. Because it is so very lightweight and packable, it's easy to take this along "just in case", or to remove it and stash it when you get too warm. On the negative side, this jacket is not waterproof, and isn't really even water resistant. When it rains, the water soaks through almost immediately, and then the jacket turns into a nearly transparent clinging shell (not a good look). I also have a small puncture hole in one arm; I honestly cannot remember when this happened, so I don't know whether it was negligence on my part, or because the fabric is very thin, or a combination of the two. However, I usually own jackets for more than one year before they start to get holes. On balance, if you live in a dry climate, then this would be worth a look. However, if you are looking for something that can protect you from rain, then it's better to look elsewhere.
