        It fits well and isn't too long. I'm short so most sweat shirts and jackets are way too long, but this is perfect. Its light weight and keeps me warm on hikes. I like the pockets because when I hike I like to have certain things readily available.

            I, too, preferred the previous style. The previous style was great for wearing out or around the house. It fit under my coat. This version is bulkier, doesn't fit well under a coat, and is too warm to wear inside. It is especially bulky around the waistline - just where I don't need more bulk. It's nice, but I won't buy more. I have 3 or 4 of the previous version in various colors.

            I agree completely with the reviewer above. i am writing to reinforce the message to the REI team. The old design was much better. I wore it happliy for years until the zipper failed. the added pocket zippers frequently dig into my torso. the longer length gets in the way when i sit. They took a really good basic vest and ruined it with improvements. Like the other reviewer i will continue to use this jacket because there isn't anything else for the price, but i really miss my old one.

            I had a REI fleece vest for about 5 years. I loved it. Wore it all the time. Sadly, the zipper failed. When i went to purchase a replacement, not surprisingly, after 5 years, it has been redesigned. Unfortunately, i just don't like the new design. My biggest problem is that the whole thing is now about 4 inches longer. I have a fairly long torso, so i can't imagine how this fits on people with normal or short ones. The drawstring is useless (since it fits so long, it hits on my hips, rather than above them, so no need for drawstring) and bulky. The other problem is that the cut of the top part has changed so now there is a gap at my armpits. if I had the extra money, i would have gotten another brand, but it was twice as much. I am sure that this will keep me warm, but i am still really disappointed with the fit.
