Comments about Shimano XT M785 SPD Mountain Bike Pedals:

I just purchased a new road bike and chose these pedals from those available at my local REI. I have been riding with SPD clips on my bike for about four years now and can't really imagine going back to standard platform pedals. While I seldom have trouble catching the pedal and clipping in on a start, the occasional times that it does happen are those when I am trying my hardest to get moving quickly such as in crossing at a stop sign. The larger platforms on these pedals (not as large as stadium platforms) gives me a little extra peace of mind in those situations without adding a great deal of weight or drag.

I'm over 40 years old and a "weekend" mt bike rider. This was the first time I've ever gone clipless and I must say the learning curve was very modest. Sure I had to borrow a tree once or twice to provide stability on exit but since then, no worries.

Easy in and easy out plus enough pedal if you want to be safe in the danger spots.
