The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.
REI La Selva Rain Jacket - Women'sis rated4.5out of5by32.
Rated5out of5byKlutzy KellfromGreat quality, value, and very versatileI bought this to wear to and from work on rainy/foggy Northern California days. I really liked that the jacket is more substantial than similar shells (from Patatgonia and the like), that cost more money for what seemed like less of a jacket. The fleece around the collar is a nice touch as well. The overall fit is fantastic. I'm pretty petite and the jacket is still flattering (it helps that there is an attached belt). So far I'm loving the jacket, even though we haven't had much rain to warrant wearing it in.

Rated4out of5bypldonfromMy updated reviewI first bought this coat in a Medium after reading the reviews about how small it runs. The medium, as my prior review states, fits very trimly, looks great, and has a wonderful hood, but did not allow for any layering without feeling restricted (which I hate). Room necessary in order to be a useful, versatile garment. I also appreciate the two-way zipper.
Because I liked the coat, and because I couldn't find another that I liked the looks of as much as this one, and because I have had good experience with REI's Elements line, I decided to try the Large even though buying a large considering my size (5'3", 125lbs) seemed absurd.
Amazingly the Large fits great, even through the shoulders, but the label SHOULD read Small or Medium with this fit. It still has a trim, stylish shape, but there is now room enough in sleeves and body to not only put layers underneath, but to move easily when I do so. I believe this will now be a good 3-season raincoat. I may take up the sleeves an inch which would still leave the little strap/buckle intact. The medium was also a bit short-waisted; this one is better. I also don't mind the extra hem-length with the larger size.
I am returning the medium, and looking forward to actually putting this one to the wind/rain test. I am surprised at REI for designing a casual, functional coat which runs so very narrow.

Rated4out of5bysbufromGreat travel coatThis was the perfect weight jacket for travelling. Easy to fold up and stow without getting wrinkled. Hood is useful if caught in the rain.

Rated4out of5byCAm RockiesfromBought for business travelI wanted a lightweight, packable rainproof jacket with a hood that was appropriate to wear over business clothes for travel. My other REI-purchased "hiking" jackets were too casual, and my longer waterproof jacket is too heavy to manage with carryon luggage. After reading the other reviews online, I went to the local store to try it on. I'm glad I did, because I had to get a large, even though I normally wear size 8 in everything (and even have a couple of size 6 jackets that fit in other brands). The medium never would have fit over a sweater or suit jacket, and the waist was almost empire height. So, this looks as if it will fit the bill well, but I'm glad I didn't order online or I would have been returning a Med. for a Lg.

Rated3out of5bypldonfromCut very narrowlyI like the look of this jacket, casual yet dressy enough to go to into town. Since it is REI I expect good perfomance in wet weather. However, I am still debating whether to keep it or not. In the kind of climate I live in, a raincoat CAN be year-round. Not this one. My old full length London Fog (no hood, getting shabby) trench coat with a zip-out thinsulate lining has been my year-round go-to coat, from Central Oregon to South America to Seattle for almost 20 yrs (the roomy cut reflects it's age as well). I tried a new London Fog trench coat and ended up with the same problems I'm having with this REI coat. Cut too narrowly.
The La Selva looks great and feels OK-when I try it on with just a t-shirt underneath. It's cut so narrowly that at 5'3" and 125lbs, I have no room in a Medium for any layering, unless I lose weight and never fluctuate. I have no idea how some reviewers can put a down or fleece coat underneath. When I do, with this coat, I feel too restricted. If I get size large (I've never worn a Large in anything--usually a Small!) the body MAY feel roomier, but the sleeves will likely be far too long. While this cut seems to be the thing right now, I'm sorry REI has gone for style over practicality. A little more room in the body and sleeves of coat would not have ruined it's trim stylish look. I prefer at least a three-season coat for the money.
So I'm thinking about it, while I search for a substitute. I would recommend this coat--to a very skinny friend.

Rated5out of5byKKosafromExcellent investmentI bought this coat over three years ago when I moved to Portland and realized that there's a BIG difference between "water resistant" and "waterproof." At the time it seemed pricey, but this coat is the best investment I've made in years. I got it in black and it's not only stylish, it's comfortable and incredible waterproof. Put this puppy and some boots on and you can stand comfortably in a total downpour for as long as you'd like. Also very durable and easy to clean. Hard to find a coat that looks as good as it performs! Long enough to provide extra dryness and warmth in colder weather, but this is not a super warm coat-- when it's Portland's typical winter weather of 40 and rainy I sometimes wear a down jacket underneath and am ready for anything. Cannot recommend this coat enough; it's worth its weight in gold!

Rated5out of5byMyshkafromGreat Investment!I cannot say enough good things about this coat! I am 5', 120lbs and the xsmall fits perfectly. At my size its hard to find things that fit properly but this jacket does. I am from Southern California and recently moved to the Caribbean, where we have a wet/hurricane season. I have had this jacket for 1 year and it has held up amazingly. Through the strong winds and heavy rain that seems to fall diagonally I am able to keep bone dry! W/ the detachable hood I can turn this into a fashionable trench coat. If you are looking for a practical jacket that can withstand real rain and transition easily into city life then this is it!

Rated5out of5byClaudiaBfromGreat for rainy weather & travelI needed a water proof coat for a trip to England & Ireland in Jan. I wanted something light enough so I could take it off & hold onto it comfortably as I entered buildings. I also wanted it a little longer than my waist for rainy weather. I wore a thick sweater under it for the cooler windy nights dipping into the low 40's. It has some great pockets in front which made it easy for me to carry my camera, train tickets and eventually tissue when I got a terrible cold in Ireland. If you're frequently cold in 60 degree weather like I am, wear a sweater underneath.
