The REI Member Dividend

Go to the front of any fun run or race and count how many men where shorts down to there knees. These shorts and most that can be purchased at rei are too long for running. Length only creates more fabric to bunch up at waist and causes an uncomfortable fit. Better fit would be between 3" and 5" inseam. These shorts are for the self conscience gym goer.

I own the black version of these shorts. I where these shorts for everything. They have pockets and the perfect length. I want to purchase a grey version of these but refuse to do so because of the color scheme. The previous version of there were grey/yellow and these are grey/green. I am begging your company to hear this feedback and please give the customers a dark solid grey option. You can have one color scheme every year to play around with as a third option, but please always leave solid black and solid dark grey alone!

I have 3 pairs for running and rotate through them. I have a larger phone and love that it fits into the stretch pocket at the back. The additional zipped pocket is perfect to carry my key. I also like the length. I'd prefer it came without the side pockets but oh well. Overall, these are my favorite and most practical running shorts.

These shorts are great. They fit well and wick moisture very well. The only weird thing (not even a bad thing) is the draw string. It is an elastic draw string that doesn't add much additional tightness at the waist.

Great pair of running shorts. Good length, not too short. The drawstring is worthless as it is as stretchy as the waistband-but they won't fall off. Nice to see REI finally make some shorts with regular pockets on the sides, plus the back pocket is good for my car key. More colors REI?

REI shorts have always been great for the gym. I have used them for running and in the weightroom over several years and they last a long time before wearing out. The shorts tend to outlast the brief liner.
The most recent pair I purchased is a smaller cut through the liner and legs than the predecessor of the same size. Waist size still feels right, but the tightness restricts some movement for ome exercises. Maybe a more body-hugging fit is what the phrase "active fit" means in the info blurb. Order a size larger when in doubt or on the edge between two sizes.
Also, moving to the smaller, waterproof pocket on middle of the back may be good for running, but the zipper location makes it uncomfortable for some bench workouts.

These are the best regular use gym shorts I've ever had. I wear something shorter to race, but for trail runs, every day runs and working out at the gym, these are unbeatable. I only wish they made them in more colors.
