The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Novara Fiona Women's Bike - 2013:
This bike is my baby.
After finally moving to where it was feasible for me to bike to work, I was ready to make up for the awful carbon footprint I had made with hours sitting in rush hour traffic.
However, I hadn't really biked since I was 13 (unless you count the time my boyfriend tried and failed to get me to ride a road bike with toe clips). That's why I opted for a hybrid--I didn't really trust myself on those skinny little road bike tires. Even on hybrids, my test-rides at the store were hilarious. This bike was great for easing me back into biking.
At first, I balked at the girly appearance of this bike. But it just rode so well, it won me over. Now, I'm actually happy I have the option of stepping through, since I sometimes have panniers piled high with groceries on the back of my bike.
Its versatility has come in handy as well. At an educator workshop, I had the option of touring a wildlife refuge (gravel roads) by bike. I found myself extra thankful for the front shocks, wide tires, and upright position (I could easily look around on the tour!). The seat and handlebars are very comfy as well.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is really that it's not very easily customized. I see that my boyfriend's road bike has more places to screw on things like water bottle holders, etc. Installing my rear rack took quite a bit of bending. Also, the curvy handlebar makes it tough for me to get my headlight to stay in place.
It is a little heavy, but that's to be expected with this style of bike, so it's not a significant drawback to me. When I have it loaded up with groceries, I feel like a tank--and for some reason that's just fun for me! :)

I ride to everyday it doesn't rain. I use to ride an all steel 10 speed with steel wheels, Fiona is a huge upgrade. Even if it rained, I know she'd make it through just fine. She handles great, never scared of making those quick turns when maneuvering through rush hour. Great comfortable upright position without losing steer control. I love the front wheel suspension, makes those DC pot holes feel like I'm coasting on waves of fun. I added a wicker basket in the front and a Trek rear rack and trunk in the back. I catch people eyeing my ride from blocks away. I can't say anything bad about her, she's an awesome ride and perfect travel friend.

Being a recreational/casual bicyclist, this bike is perfect for me. My husband and I go out for 5-20 mile bike rides a couple of times per week. We are mostly riding paved trails but sometimes go on crushed rock surfaces, and either way the bike is comfortable, easy to handle, and fun to ride. It was tricky to find locations to add the bottle holder, tire pump and odometer, but we eventually figured it out. Love the handlebars of this bike....I have arthritis in my thumb joints, and the shape of the grips gives me several different options for relieving the pressure on those joints.

My husband and I invested in bikes a few weeks ago and have had fun tooling around town ever since. We've mostly been on roads, and it's done well and I look forward to some longer rides. I just rode it to work for the first time this morning and wish I had opted for a rack (instead of wearing a heavy backpack!); that's something I will add soon and the bike perfored well, as always. It feels sturdy and dependable, and I hope to keep riding it for many more seasons!

Comments about Novara Fiona Women's Bike - 2013:
I like that it has a mostly sitting up position so that not too much weight is on my hands. (I've had wrist and shoulder issues for years.) It also has little hand rests to the side so that you have two positions to put your hands for longer rides. And thank goodness for all the gears. They are easy to change and easy to figure out which one you are in. It's a great bike...and it looks good, too. I rode it on a long organized ride and felt the bike looked serious enough to be included with some very serious riders.

Just got this bike one week ago. Maybe it is because I had a cheap "big box store" bike & riding this is like a dream!
Husband & I went on a 20 mile ride on a nearby smooth trail & I felt like it rode very smoothly & comfortably. I did have a kickstand installed when buying, as well as combination SPD/platform pedals. Couldn't be happier.

I have last year's model, which is pretty much the same except for the color.
I love this bike -- it's very comfortable and handles the road as well as trails in the woods really well (I haven't tried anything like mountain biking with it).
The only reason why I gave it 4 stars is because:
a. no kickstand (how could a bike not have a kickstand?)
b. no water bottle holder (a lesser issue because I can maybe understand no water bottle holder, but no kickstand?!)
My boyfriend and I remedied these two things by buying a universal kickstand (fairly inexpensive, super easy to install) and using some electric tape to tape down my water bottle holder.

Comments about Novara Fiona Women's Bike - 2013:
I bought this bike to ride the 5 miles of country road to a local park and to do casual biking in state parks throughout the state (Texas). I didn't think I would want to ride any of the bike trails in the parks, just the roads. This little gem handles so well, I've taken her off the road just a bit in order to extend my ride. It isn't made to ride rough trails with rocks and tree roots, but it handles the improved trails with compressed granite and natural level soil really well. We have gentle hills and so I'm constantly shifting up and down -- the mechanism is smooth and easy to figure out. There are adjustable shocks on the front fork, and that really helped smooth the rough spots on those trails. I wish it had shocks on the saddle, but that's asking a bit much of a bike that's meant to stay on the road. I take a backpack with water bottle, so the water thing others have mentioned hasn't been an issue for me. I especially love the size. I am 5'2" and got the medium (the sales person said my height indicated I should get a small, but the medium felt better and she said it looked like it fit fine). Before I took the bike home it got a full inspection, test ride, and mechanical tune up, so I'm confused about the customer service problems another poster mentioned. Also, of course since it has a dropped bar (for a fit better suited to women), you have to get an adapter if you want to mount it to a bike rack. The adapter is reasonably priced and easy to install -- no problem there. In fact, once my SO installed it, he went back to get one for himself because it made his bike fit better on the rack too.
This bike is well-built, easy to handle, and performs its functions well. I highly recommend it.

Be prepared when you go to the store. You have to be very specific when you ask them, will my new (Novarra women's bike) fit on my bike rack, sure. (Thule),No it does not, but they will sell you an adapter for $40...Really Will you attach some accesories from my old bike water bottle, bell, on to the new bike? yes, but they don't tell you they charge you for labor.
When you get the call when you're new bike is ready, you need to ask them, did you adjust the gears so it is ready to ride? No the chain popped off in 5 minutes. Very disapointed in their customer service and will probably be returning our new bikes.
