Comments about Novara E.T.A. Backpack:
I wish it had a mesh water bottle holder but other than that perfect size for riders.

Comments about Novara E.T.A. Backpack:
This is the best little pack to have for daily use! It's small enough to throw on my back without noticing the weight and to be just as compact as the previous bag I was using, a flash 18. I've got my camel back in the pouch and have never had any issues with that part of the bag. I throw this pack on my back for my daily bike commute and the weight is small and manageable even with all of my winter gear inside (rain coat, rain pants, scarf, underwear, socks, 2 shirts, gloves, misc other).
I've taken this pack hiking with me several times and it can reduce in weight and size really easily making a day hike really enjoyable. For longer hikes and camping trips I can load this pack up with everything I need for a day and be just fine. The weight has never been too much for what I've used it for.
Commuting with this pack is awesome and the built in rainfly has saved me so many times! It's irreplacable!
I couldn't be happier with this pack and definitely look forward to getting more gear by Novara!!!

I use this to carry my food and essentials for work. Works well, nice and sturdy. It is moderately heavy empty. Has nice compartments for almost everything. Small interior space though.
Comments about Novara E.T.A. Backpack:
I've had three backpacks over the past 5 years for my commutes into work, and this is by far the best one. More expensive than the others, but the best one.
I can put my clothes into the main area and they don't get wrinkled. The ventilation on the pack keeps my back from getting too hot. Finally a few weeks ago it rained on my way home. I pulled the rain cover out of the bottom pouch around the pack and none of my stuff got wet. At all.
A couple things to note: the straps are too long, so after I got it adjusted ( a few rides) I cut them down so they weren't dangling in the wind. Also, there is only one external pocket for stuff; I'd like to have 1 or 2 more easily accessible external pockets. Other than that, the pack rocks

Comments about Novara E.T.A. Backpack:
I needed an every day cycling pack, since I use my bike to commute to work, and generally get around. I looked hard for the perfect pack to suit my needs and the Novara E.T.A. came closest.
What's great: The size and fit are just right. Super comfortable. I regularly use the key clip, waist belt, sternum strap, organization pockets for small stuff. The hydration sleeve is good for storing papers. Airflow mesh on the back tames my back sweat, and the internal stability straps keep the big stuff from shifting around in there.
What's not great: 1. There are no side pockets for water bottle, sunglasses, etc., and I really miss them. I am more inclined to carry water bottles than a hydration bladder, so this is a major omission; 2. Main compartment unzips all the way down. That's a nice feature on a suitcase, but I don't need/want it on a bag this size. When I hang the bag on a hook (e.g. on the door of a bathroom stall), with the intent to unzip just enough to grab something from the top, the weight of my stuff under the front flap will unzip the whole bag, then all the contents in the main compartment come spilling out (The internal stability straps help somewhat); 3. Attaching my bike helmet to the bag is something I want to do quickly, so I can move on. I have found this cinch-cord system takes too much time and effort. In winter, it will be near impossible to use with frozen gloved fingers.
Bottom line: No bag is perfect, but this one is pretty great.

Comments about Novara E.T.A. Backpack:
I have been commuting by bike with my tramping day pack for most of this year (5 days per week).
Unfortunately, the hip straps were a little lumpy whilst cycling and the colour was a bit dangerous when it rains and/or gets dark.
So a hunt was begun to find a cycling specific backpack.
This bore little fruit locally, so an online search began and voila! Rei's site was found.
Being small of frame and female of gender meant the pack needed to fit me without swamping me.
I was also looking specifically for:
a bright colour
cycling specific
reflective surfaces
place for light
waterproof
big enough to carry lunch and clothes into work
something that could handle gritty commuting
good quality/good price
The Novara ETA stood out as something that could meet my requirements. But the good news is it offers more!! I hate to sound gushy but for the first week I kept finding things about this pack that impressed me.
The things I like are:
it's like the doctor's tardus (within reason)
the outside pockets are clever (room for iphone and wallet and something else - even has an attachment to hold keys) and easy to access
the helmet holding system is simple but works well
the top pocket was a nice surprise and is good to throw things in at the last minute
the zips to the main compartment go from top to bottom which means you can pack the backpack like a suitcase (if that's what you like to do!) and there are even tie down straps on the inside to secure your load
the waist straps can be detached (hallelujah! finally someone's thought of this!)
the rain cover has its own pocket down the bottom and it's dead easy putting it on/off and I was impressed with the velcro connections at the top
the reflective hanging tags are great and they can connect to the outside of the backpack or on the outside of the raincover
there's a place for an extra light down the bottom of the pack
it's easy to clean
the backpack seems to let air in between your back and the pack - nice!
It can take a hydration system and has it's own sleeve inside (which might be a good place for the laptop too).
All in all, a great back pack!

This is a great day use pack. I use it M-F as a pack to cary to and from the gym and on the weekends for day hikes. Having the option for a hydration pack is great! It is easily removable and lightweight. I would reccomend this bag to anyone loioking for a small day use pack!

Very nice backpack. It's plenty roomy and has lots of nice pockets for all your stuff. The egg-crate and mesh back panel keeps your back cool (not totally sweat free, but close). The best part of this back pack is how it totally opens up 180deg for easy loading of stuff. You can basically load it like a suit case and strap everything down.

Comments about Novara E.T.A. Backpack:
I wanted a liter bag then what I already own. This bag is definitely what Ive been wanting for the 50+ miles I'll be cycling. Those long distances with something heavy on your back is a strain.
The straps in front are exactly what Ive been looking for. I like the strap on the inside that holds your tire pump. Its just a really well thought out bag to be have been created.
