This is a decent light for you dog, maybe even your cat.

The RuffWear gear all has a 'light loop' where this light can easily attach to. While it is secure on their gear, it can - might have an issue attaching to non-RuffWear gear. Some people have reported that if falls off during rough activities and can end up being lost.
There is a loop, but it is very small, not sure what you can loop through it, it would be very tough to loop it on the dog's tag ring.

NOT WATERPROOF. The battery compartment does not have a waterproof seal. There should be a rubber seal - but there is none. Water submersion will ruin this light. I have used mine only in rain and it still works. Others have reported their dogs jumping into the lake and the light no longer works after that.

Battery is 2032 type battery. It takes TWO to power the LED light. Kinda spendy to replace.

RuffWear could have made a slightly larger light to use AAA type batteries and included a rubber seal to make it waterproof.

Three type of light settings:

Luv RuffWear - this could have been better for the price. But for what I use and our activity level it works just fine.

I got this for my 100 lb dog last September 2012 and haven't had to replace the battery, yet. It gets used in the winter or during late night excursions, so probably 1 hour a night for 6 months. I originally added a small clip to make it easy to put on/take off his collar tag loop each night, but it broke from play with another dog. So, I ended up attaching straight to the tag loop (under his neck) with the provided metal key-type clip. Now it just stays there 24/7 and I turn it on when needed. That would be my only recommendation to the makers is to come up with something so it's easily removable from the tag loop. I know you can use the clip that slides on, but with play at the dog park, it would just slide off or break. It is watertight and he has gone in the water with it (not for prolonged times, just in and back out) and it still keeps on blinking! I definitely recommend this and have suggested it to other pet owners when they inquire.

I walk my dog at night in an urban area near a college campus, and I want to make absolutely sure that drivers and bicyclists can see him. I use a 6' leash, so he is close to my legs at all times, but I have noticed distracted drivers making right hand turns and crowding the walkway, as well as bicyclists who use both the street and the sidewalk -- and who are not always paying attention as they weave around. I bought this light to replace a cheap flasher I'd picked up for $1, but which fell off my dog's harness almost right away because the clip was not designed to be attached to nylon webbing.I like this light a lot -- at [$], it is a bit pricey, but it is well designed and solidly built. I've owned other Ruffwear items in the past and found they last and last. The Web Master harness has been a godsend for our older dogs who have trouble with stairs.Here's what I like about the light:1. The base is thick enough so that the light stands up above my dog's fur where it can be seen. I looked at lights that hang down from the dog's collar, but I didn't think these would be sufficiently visible if the dog has his head down (sniffing) or has a lot of fur around his neck (mine does). I want a light that stays up on top of the collar/harness or at the bottom of the leash just above where it attaches to the collar -- in other words, I want the light to be on top of the dog, and this light manages that nicely.2. The clip (I discarded the split ring) is substantial and has a lip so that it securely attaches to 1" webbing (e.g., a 1" wide leash, collar, or harness). There is a bump on the inside of the clip to create a bit of friction so that the clip does not slide up and down the webbing too much. I have had no problems with the light sliding around on my dog's 1" wide nylon harness -- it stays where I put it.3. The light is BRIGHT -- no kidding. I use the first flashing mode (two flashes followed by a pause) to really make sure we're seen at night.4. The On/Off button is easy to find, easy to use, and is slightly recessed so that it can''t be turned on or off by accident. I haven't had to change batteries yet -- no clue how easy or hard that might be, though the instructions make it seem fairly straightforward. It takes the button cells, so they're readily available at the drugstore or grocery store.The unit seems water tight -- no problems so far.

Nice product. Strong, Bright Light... However, I've had two break with moderate use from my dogs. The back clip broke on one, and the other fell apart. It appears that this current model has changed from the previous...I'm hoping for better luck this time around. Glad I purchased at REI so I can get a replacement for free!
