Comments about Madshus Glittertind BC Touring Ski Boots - 2009 Closeout:
Great boot for the wet snow we get in the western Cascades. Stays dry even after breaking trail in spring conditions all day. I've even slipped while crossing a creek and submerged the whole boot and still stayed dry.
Overall support is solid, with a good stiff feel, but flexible enough for decent kick and glide. Difficult to get into and out of, but that is partly the trade off for all that support--you're strapped in really well.
One major negative: the insoles that come with them are really flimsy and cheap. I didn't mind, as I always use after market insoles anyway (ie., super feet), but anyone wanting to use the boots as is will probably not enjoy those paper thin insoles.
Overall, great boot for backcountry touring and maybe even a bit of track skiing if you like.
NOTE: Color in picture is not representative. Boots I received were actually two tone beige(gray?) and black with red accents, not all black as shown.
Service and delivery comments:
Speedy and well-packaged order fulfillment as always from REI.
Feels half size too big
Feels true to width
