    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about ENO Possum Pocket Hammock Bag:

OK so this thing could be really really useful but it just falls short.

I like the idea of a possum pocket I like the idea of a bigger organizer that you can hang your stuff from. the first generation was exactly that and ONLY exactly that. it didnt take up much space or weight but it did what it proposed to do.

the next generation is an improvement but it could be so much better.

the new possum pocket is really just a small sling pack with removable straps and connection loops on all three corners, as opposed to the old weird conjunction of nylon and webbing. So there is a pic on the product packaging of a guy walking around with the possum pocket on his back carrying his hammock around on his fun day hike. we are to imply that you can carry around your pocket with your hammock stuff in it along with a few odds and ends and to hang it with your hammock to put your stuff in. the pocket is about the size of a big fanny pack though I have seen some bigger than the possum pocket so space is a thing here.

      how it is good

it does help you organize your stuff. I had my stuff swimming all around my backpack and this new pocket definitely helps bring things together

it has three different points on it that allow you to hang it so you have a couple options you can hang it from the suspension of the hammock in good weather, or you could even maybe hang it from your ridge line.

it has a couple little pockets in it, one inside one outside, that you could use to stash some stuff in.

you dont have to use it for a gear sling on your hammock. If you carried your hammock in it and didnt use it for a gear sling you would have a little tiny pack to carry a little bit of stuff around in. an easy way to both carry a little extra pack and keep your hammock organized

      How it is bad

the sizing doesn't fit. if you put a set of ENO slap straps an ENO double nest and an ENO talon inside of the possum pocket you will have room for very very little else, no tarp, no kind of survival kit, no cup, water bottle or cook kit, maybe a knife and a lighter not much else. So if you were to use this as a little day pack or a tooling around pack you basicly only have room for the hammock.

The zipper on the side goes a bit low. The zipper for the compartment goes from top to bottom and I worry that if you hang it from the top and put a bunch of stuff in it the gear could push the zipper down and spill the contents on the ground. the previous pocket didnt have this problem and I really think it makes it less effective at its original purpose.

It does not come equipped with carabiners or hooks on the connection points on the three corners. there are hooks on the shoulder strap but not on the three corners. so it doesent come equipped with anything besides the shoulder strap to attach it to the hammock or the ridge line. The old pocket had a buckle and strap that attached to the suspension. I would have liked to see something like that or some biners on the pocket it's self.

      What could make it better

a different hammock. if you use different products it begins to work allot better. I put a different hammock with a reworked suspension in it and it took up less than a fourth of the space and did almost everything the other three items had done. this thing might be more useful for someone with more knowledge of how to cut size and weight in hammock camping

the strap on the pack should be a bar tacked one inch wide 1000 test weight webbing strap. Most hammockers use these straps as their anchor points to trees how convenient would it be to have another spare one on your possum pocket?

all in all its a great concept but poor execution. I think some more thought and design should have been executed here. If some light weight hammocker found a little sling pack like this for a few bucks in a bargain bin and retasked it I would think it was really cool. but as an original product I find it very lacking and sloppy in its design. While Im sure I will be able to put it to good use and force it to get my moneys worth, I dont know that other people necessarily will. I think I alone could have made this a better product and I find that kind of sad because I am not a designer. ENO again has a good idea with execution that is not fleshed out and falls short.
