Comments about MSR Evo Tour 22 Snowshoes:
Thus far I've only used this snowshoe in moderately steep terrain in Rocky Mtn NP and it performed exactly as I had hoped. It is a big emprovement over my older bearpaw aluminum framed snowshoe in terms of overall size, weight and traction in hard snow and ice.

Comments about MSR Evo Tour 22 Snowshoes:
I used this product on a long 13 mile Winter day hike in the White Mountains of NH. Two things that aren't great about this product:
1) the buckle at the front of each snowshoe was not long enough to allow the snowshoe to be secured to a size 14 Scarpa Mountaineering boot. The securing mechanism on the buckle was hard to adjust.
2) as is the case for all MSR snowshoes that I am familiar with, there is very little to grip at the end of each strap, especially the one that goes around the heel. As such, it is hard to pull the straps tight, especially with a gloved or mittened hand. Interestingly, the instructions on how to put on these snowshoes show the strap being pulled up by an ungloved hand - not likely to be the case during a winter hike.

Comments about MSR Evo Tour 22 Snowshoes:
I was sold on this design because you could use them as a smaller, more compact snowshoe but add the floaters for length when traveling to deeper snow. This way, for our light lower-Michigan snow you're not wearing long snow shoes when you don't need them. If you head up North into deeper snow, snap on the floaters and, Voila, you have the longer snowshoe you need. Good idea. Problem is, these bindings are horrible and hard to manipulate. The top "quick strap" binding is almost impossible to manipulate, especially of your hands are cold. The other bindings on the shoe operate more like a buckle. There's a little silver post that goes through the strap and then you tighten them. Problem is, when you put that silver post through the hole it is on the top of your arch and stopped by your own shoe!!! - making it, again, almost impossible to manipulate and get through the hole - especially with cold hands. I switched to the Atlas snowshoe. It's an easier binding system. My advice: it's critical that you have a binding system that is easy for YOU to operate. Everyone is different so shop with that in mind. I wouldn't order online. Go into the store and try some.

Comments about MSR Evo Tour 22 Snowshoes:
These are great snowshoes. I wanted to purchase the Evo Ascent shoes but I "settled" for the Evo Tour shoes instead. The only difference I could find between the two models was the step-in toe strap. After using the step-in toe strap I have found that it does a good job securing your boot to the shoe bindings and you have one less strap to mess with. The shoe is durable and works well. I haven't seen a good reason to spend the extra money on the Ascent model. I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend them.

Great styling. Lightweight and more maneuverable than previous models. Did I mention that they were lightweight?

Comments about MSR Evo Tour 22 Snowshoes:
At first a little hesitant when I seen them I guess I am a little "old school" or just use to the more traditional snowshoes. It took me a few minutes to get the front strap adjusted to my boots. Once you get the straps adjusted to you they are extremely easy to get on and off. If you plan to share them I would definitely get the Evo Accent. I have used them by themselves and in deep snow I added the tails and they worked perfect. The buckles never froze on me and when you are on a steep ascent the heel clips LOVE IT! They worked beautifully.

Comments about MSR Evo Tour 22 Snowshoes:
My husband and I purchased these snowshoes after much consideration and reading lots of reviews - we wanted the best buy for our money. We went up to northern Minnesota for a small vacation and it was a blast! We did the one-time fit of the snowshoes before hitting the trails, and it was very simple. There wasn't a great deal of snow, so I can not comment on the floatation in deep snow, but these were amazing on the ice and rolling hills. Of course since this is a recent purchase, I cannot speak of the overall performance year after year. However, we are anxiously waiting for MORE snow to get out and use these. Snowshoeing is a wonderful winter activity, and these snowshoes make it very fun!

Comments about MSR Evo Tour 22 Snowshoes:
The SpeedLock binding system works great. My fingers get cold very fast in the winter and these bindings are very easy to use with bulky mittens. The binding system also lets you put them on and take them off very quickly. They also attach to the foot very securely and stay that way throughout the entire hike.
These snowshoes perform well in deep powder and packed snow, and the traction is excellent in all directions on steep terrain. Overall, these are the best snowshoes I have used.

Comments about MSR Evo Tour 22 Snowshoes:
I had these out in fresh powder for a weekend and they they performed amazingly. Best snowshoes I have had to date. I went through just about everything from level ground to steep off trail terrain.
Great traction, and great fit. I like the bindings on these more than other shoes I have had in the past. I will be getting the extensions soon to help with more flotation when i'm carrying my pack on trips.
