Comments about Giro Carbide Bike Shoes - Men's:

I finally upgraded to clip-in pedals and then had to find shoes that didn't make me walk like a tap dancing penguin when I wasn't on the bike. I use the Giro Carbide on my road bike because they are only slightly heavier than the road version, but have a much more normal walking surface. The cleat is recessed so I don't damage my floor or the cleat when walking. I wear them on long rides and short commutes with no complaints except that they have poor traction when walking on smooth surfaces. I've used them on average about 4 days a week for the last year and they are holing up great. These are great shoes at this price point and I hope to continue to use them for years to come.

Comments about Giro Carbide Bike Shoes - Men's:

I bought these shoes at the begginning of the summer (2012) and have done almost 1000 miles in them, half on the road and half on the mountain bike. They have worked great for both. On the mountain I ride a Gary Fisher Superfly mostly in rocky cross country terrain. These shoes have proven to be great quality and value. I have read in other reviews, and have to say myself that these shoes are not super easy to walk in, but then again what cycling shoes are? They are meant to be clipped into a pedal, if you are walking around too much maybe you should ditch the bike and get some hikinh boots all together. Once again great stiff shoes, efficient pedaling, great ventalation.

My first pair of clipless shoes. Using them for road biking. Of the five models of shoes I tried on, I knew immediately these were the ones. The fit, for my foot, was great. More room in the toe box than others. Great sole for walking around.

If only someone would recognize that there are women out there with large feet. These are a little wide for me but doubling up on socks makes it wearable.

Nothing too special here except they are nicely budget priced.

Comments about Giro Carbide Bike Shoes - Men's:

When I bought these, I was heavily into riding dirt trails. The shoes cleaned off easily, and did well even when they got wet.

The nylon bottoms can be a bit slippery on flat walking surfaces like painted garages, but do fine on asphalt and concrete.

One thing that I am having a problem with is the wearing that is taking place on the screws at the front of the sole of the shoe. They are really taking a beating from walking around in them. The rest of the sole shows no wear at all.

Getting this type of shoe is definitely a benefit for distance riding, and with the good price point, this shoe is really well made.

So far, so good! I bought these shoes to use on my crankbrothers Egg Beater 3 pedals, and they work very well together.

I had to use shims on the shoes because the tread was a tad bit too high for the Egg Beater 3. However, I haven't had any other issues.

Comments about Giro Carbide Bike Shoes - Men's:

These shoes fit me well, and do a nice job when on the bike. They work well on the road, and for commuting, but have serious issues for MTB riding. I bought these in the summer, and for that they perform OK. Once conditions get slimy, forget it. Zero grip on damp rock, roots, damp soil. When I have to walk or carry the bike it is because conditions are too severe to ride. Those same conditions make these hard plastic soles dangerous to walk in. If these had a softer compound tread that gripped the ground I would give 5 stars, but as it is they are unacceptable. Good in dry climates, no good in wet climates!

Comments about Giro Carbide Bike Shoes - Men's:

Thus far, I have only used these shoes for spin class, and have not taken them out for any mountain or road biking (you can use mountain bike spikes with these). They replaced a seven year old pair of Shimano shoes.

I like the velcro straps, and time will tell how well they wear after continual use. I was unsure how well they would adjust, especially compared to laces, but the adjustments to my foot are perfect.

The sole has a great tradeoff between stiffness and weight, which seems to give me great power transfer throughout the pedal cycle.

I bought the khaki/brown combination, which seems to have caught the eyes of most of my cycling friends. They not only look good, but they perform!
