Comments about REI Stainless-Steel Vacuum Food Container - 12 fl. oz.:
I was looking for a well insulated container for soups and water and such, and this was almost perfect. I bought it primarily because of the large mouth so i can reach in there and clean it. I don't have a bottle brush.
It does leak a little bit more heat than a tall thermos, but I think that has to do with the circumference of the mouth. I won't hold that against it.
The only thing I wish they did better was the screw top cap. The plastic cap doesn't have a lot to grip if your hands are wet and frozen, and you can really screw it on pretty tight. The outside cup/cap was perfect! Square bottom with grooves you can really get a grip on.

Comments about REI Stainless-Steel Vacuum Food Container - 12 fl. oz.:
The breakfast meal that I prepare to take to work in this vacuum container is steel cut oatmeal w/ cranberries and chopped walnuts mixed in & one scrambled egg laid on top. At breakfast break four hours later I am enjoying a piping hot meal. The lid's release valve facilitates my being able to open the container & is greatly appreciated since I have hand strength issues due to rheumatoid arthritis. I also find this food container w/ its wide mouth easy to handwash. Bottom line.....love it.

Comments about REI Stainless-Steel Vacuum Food Container - 12 fl. oz.:
I am just about to buy my second one, since our family is about to have its second kid old enough to bring lunch to school. Our current one, bought Oct 2011, is doing great. It is handwash (as stated), other than that it is awesome; couldn't understand negativity of other review, when my daughter said she couldn't open lid we just put it on a little less tight, with still no spillage, and no further complaints. Lots of hot soup eaten thanks to this.

Comments about REI Stainless-Steel Vacuum Food Container - 12 fl. oz.:
The product fits well in my son's lunch sack and he really enjoyed the option of bringing hot soup to school on cold days. The problems were that he had trouble opening it, it smelled and was hard to clean and finally it totally fell apart with the insulation coming out of the top. I would not recommend this product unless you are willing to replace it after a few months.
