    • Sturdy aluminum 360° Traction frame provides security on any terrain, thanks to aggressive teeth integrated in the frame along the outside edge and underfoot
    • Urethane-impregnated nylon decking is lightweight, waterproof and durable; heel strike area features a welded-on reinforcement patch
    • SpeedLock™ system offers quick and easy, glove-friendly adjustment of your bindings
    • Axis™ Gait Efficiency Technology can be adjusted to compensate for individual toe-in and toe-out tendencies in gait, maximizing stride efficiency and overall comfort
    • Make use of optional instep straps (sold separately) for even greater security; straps stay pliable and easy to adjust in cold temperatures, even when wearing mittens
    • Steel crampons underfoot not only grip well, but also provide stability and reduce heel drift for an efficient gait
    • Ergonomic heel lifts engage with the flick of a pole grip to ease strain on your calves during steep ascents
    • All materials are waterproof, so they don't soak up water, freeze and get heavy
    • Compatible with MSR Lightning Snowshoe Flotation tails (sold separately) for an easy-on/off flotation boost when in deep snow or carrying extra weight
    • Please note: without tails, recommended load is up to 180 lbs., and with 5 in. tails, recommended load is up to 240 lbs.

    MSR Lightning Axis 22 Snowshoes - Women'sis rated4.3333out of5by3.
Rated5out of5byfromGreat tractionAfter extensive research online (including looking at the more expensive Ascents), my husband and I bought two of these Lightning Axis snowshoes (my husband actually got the womens' 22 as well, since he's only 145 pounds -- and the shoes size was no problem). We were hesitant to get into snowshoeing because the only ones we've used before were big and clunky -- but the 22" length and 7.25" width are awesome. We forgot we were wearing snowshoes because it felt just like hiking -- except on steep slopes, where the traction was phenomenal. The buckles were convenient and stayed on and in place, and the ends of the straps didn't flap because of the metal snap-like fasteners. The snowshoes can also be adjusted for the angle of the foot for those who are duckfooted. Overall, very satisfied with the purchase. (Note: The little pull tab to adjust the angle of the foot did break on one of my snowshoes, but it rarely needs to be adjusted, and you can always just tie a string instead. And I assume I could get it fixed or exchange it if I wanted).

Rated3out of5byfromAlmost thereThese snowshoes are great in every way except one. Although they are only .75 inches less in width than other comparable models, this makes a big difference in stability. It's easy to roll you ankle because the base under the front part of the shoe is so narrow. Other than that, they are light and have great traction, but the binding system is a little tricky the first few times--that wide strap. But once you adjust it, you don't have to again unless you change your boot. The strap that crosses the top of your foot tends to be tight and must we worn loose or you can get arch fatigue.

Rated5out of5byfromTwo trips, two successesHaven't had a chance to use the extensions yet because we don't have enough snow, but these snowshoes performed admirably on steep Adirondack trails of snow and ice. LOVE the heel lifts! So light and comfy that sometimes I forget I'm wearing snowshoes and I step on them and fall down.
