    The REI Member Dividend

The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.

Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.

Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

    Fischer S-Bound 78 Backcountry Skisis rated4.3333out of5by3.
Rated5out of5byfromCouldn't be happierBack in the day I did a lot of backcountry skiing, and could ski up or down about anything well. My skis of choice were Karhu XCD's and some wood Asnes for when I didn't need edges. Both were 210 cm. But, I'm older now, 58, and wanted something shorter, wider than 70mm, and waxless. Didn't want to go too wide and these 78mm skis looked about right. It is important to note that the size charts are for your weight and that of all of your clothes and gear. So I weigh 175, but maybe 195-200 with gear. The Fischer size chart put me right between the 189 and the 199 length. I chose to go with the 189, as I was after a bit more climbing ability than I was gliding ability. And the 199 wouldn't be all that much shorter than my 210's. Anyway, turns out I made the right decision to go with the 189's. They track well, are stable, and turn easily. The logging roads I use have a lot of up and down sections and I found the skis to climb very well and the glide down was good too. Much easier to deal with than skins on my old waxable skis. Tele turns initiate much easier than my old skis too, and with a bit more ski width I feel like I have good stability. I ski near the continental divide in Colorado, so most of the snow is fresh and light. They work great in new snow and I know would be good in spring corn too, but not sure about the grip on ice or crust with a double camber ski...I don't think they would have the edge hold under the foot area that you would need. But those are not conditions I will encounter much, if ever, with these skis.

Rated4out of5byfromNice ski, not heavyI replaced my old worn E99's with a pair of these. I dropped back to a 179 length since they are wider and its getting harder to do kick turns in my older age. I have only 4 hours on them so far but in both heavy wet snow and dry powdery stuff. Turns good, floats well and are much lighter than my old E99's. Very satisfied so far

Rated4out of5byfromgood ski but different than expectedBought these to replace Karhu XCD that broke after several years service. I had used the Karhus for "fast and light" on/off trail travel where some turning was needed and conditions could be icy. The Fischer Skis turn great and have good grip uphill - better than the Karhus. They are a little slow, however. In this regard they underperform the Karhus they replaced. For those of you in the zone between two different sizes I recommend upsizing. I am 160# and am on the 180. I think 190s would have been faster. In fact, these skis are as slow as a pair of Atomics I have that are 10mm wider. On balance these skis do a good job for me for the niche intended.
