The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about REI Recycled Tumbler - 12 fl. oz.:
The mug holds just enough of my morning tea. It insulates well, though not for very long. I also don't like very hot drinks so it suits me just fine. It is also great with cold/iced drinks. Mine has never leaked - NOT ONCE! The ink on the design on the base is fading but who cares. It fits in my bike's water bottle holder perfectly.

Comments about REI Recycled Tumbler - 12 fl. oz.:
I am not a hardcore coffee drinker; i use this for hot and cold drinks of pretty much every type. I tend to transport mine in a bag or cupholder, then drink at a destination -- I don't typically use it while driving. It's nice for car-camping (but far too heavy for backpacking). Unlike so many others, *it does not leak*. Not even upside-down. It's tough. It fits in lots of tight places and is easy to hold with small, gloved hands.
I like that it's 12 oz -- if it held 16 the last 4 oz would be cold by the time i got to them. I also sometimes use it for cold beverages, which usually come in 12oz. bottles/cans...
It's plastic, so it does absorb odors / flavors but i find that pretty easy to get over. It insulates, but not fantastically. Since i prefer my drinks warm, not hot, that is actually nice for me. Because it's smooth, it's very easy to slide inside a jacket pocket, or inside an extra layer in your bag, which will keep it warm much longer. On a 40 degree morning, expect no more than 15 minutes until your drink is cool. Indoors, more like 30-45 minutes. If you want seriously hot beverage, stick with containers that are actual vacuum flasks (the REI ones are excellent).
The design encourages sipping -- the openings do not permit fast drinking and if you tilt the cup a lot the flip-top hits your nose. When it's nearly empty, you end up tilting your head rather far back to finish it, no big deal UNLESS you are chasing that last drop while driving.
I think reviews about the graphics coming off are for a previous version. Mine has only the REI logo, and while it has been scratched away in some places from rough handling, it certainly isn't smearing, getting sticky, or wiping off.

The best thing about this product is that it is dishwasher safe. And, it's slimmer size makes it easier to grip.

This new design is great- REI listens to its customers. The older design was a more traditional wide coffee mug with a handle that didn't travel well in a car. Well, here is the new and improved travel coffee mug. REI, please keep the purple and fun designs coming like this product.
The recycled material seems like it will hold up well to any condition- from being gently used in my condo to being tossed into the back seat of the car on the floor or even in the trunk. I like the simple design of the top- less to break in the future. It keeps my coffee hot enough.
This model will be the one I take with us on our near future road trip where we will stay in hotels for nine nights. I look forward to pairing these cups with our new REI French Press Insulated Carafe- 48 oz.

I use this mug while working outside and while traveling by car. The lid turns. The flap covering the drinking hole locks open, and when locked closed, does not leak. Keeps coffee hot... all around a great mug.
