Comments about Atlas 1030 Snowshoes:
These shoes performed very well in a variety of snow conditions on a recent spring hike. Traction was excellent even on hard ice. Wet snow did not clump-up on the bottom of the shoes - problem I've had with previous shoes.
Entry and exit is really easy due to a well thought-out design that was easy to do with gloves on. Very happy with these shoes!

Comments about Atlas 1030 Snowshoes:
First used these in Yellowstone hiking up to Tower Falls. Some icy patches, and the footing was secure. Deeper snow in the Little America area and even though I am 6'2'' and 215, plus a large pack, walking was easy, these shoes supported the weight with little problem.
Up graded to these from an older pair of 1030's to get the heel bar, as I felt some leg fatigue climbing in the Castle Peak area near Lake Tahoe. Haven't used them on a climb as yet but am looking forward to it.

Comments about Atlas 1030 Snowshoes:
I'm a greenhorn to snowshoeing, but these did just marvelously up at Crater Lake. Went through a variety of conditions from deep snow to shallow, crunchy hard stuff (I know, not the best for brand new teeth).
Only complaint is that they seem to point inward as I walk, though that may just be my gait. I'm 5'10" about 150 lbs. and I think I could have done just fine with the shorter pair. I got the 30's because I want to eventually carry a pack on trips and was on the line between sizes @ 150 lbs.

Comments about Atlas 1030 Snowshoes:
Attention to detail would change this from a mediocre product into a great one. The fastener design, both on the heel and over the boot is not positive enough, and I continually have to stop and tighten them up.

The climbing bar on these snowshoes works great for backcountry snowboarding. I can't wait to get out and use these nice shoes again! It was well worth the extra money.

Comments about Atlas 1030 Snowshoes:
Great snowshoes, the binding are rock solid and once adjusted don't need any re-tightening, good traction although not for serious mountaineering, for something like that i would go with the 12 series
but these are a great combination to take you from packed trails to off trail powder along with some moderate steeps and this years model has been upgraded with a heel bar to help with the slopes
an overall great snowshoe for overall conditions
would give it 5 stars, but the first few times i used them the binding were a bit difficult to get out of, now that i've used them though the binding has spread a bit and my foot slides in and out easily, so they are actually a 5 star product after a bit of use
