Comments about Timbuk2 Phoenix Cycling Backpack:
My wife bought me this bag for Christmas this past year, which shocked me because this puts our timbuk2 bag count up to four. But I love this bag.
She bought it for me as a new biking bag as well as a new school bag as it is my last semester in school, and I work full time as an editor at a Production company, so biking and commuting back and forth is easier when I can fit all my stuff in it easily.
On a standard day I typically need anywhere between 2-4 Text books, a planner book, two spiral notebooks, a folder, my computer and charger, my external hard drive, my over the ear headphones, my ipod and iphone. lunch(or dinner) my helmet, a change shirt and a water bottle, plus my bike lock.
This can store all those things with ease. its a great bag and very adjustable I have never had anything bad to say about a Timbuk2 bag
One issue is that if you do not have a lot in this bag and are trying to get something out of the top fold rather than the side zipper it is a bit difficult but not too bad

Comments about Timbuk2 Phoenix Cycling Backpack:
I was looking for a nice ~35 L backpack that would comfortably work for biking and other generic use as well. This is the best choice I came across with. This bag will comfortably fit few pairs of shoes, two sets of clothes and some extra gear as well.
The bag has a large single compartment that has two quick access routes, wide-opening top flap and a side zipper, both of which have proven very useful. One can simply stuff stuff in the bag, without any of the confusion of having pockets and dividers here and there.
In general I love my bag and would recommend to anyone in a blink of an eye, there are, however two things that I would like changed/added:
1. the tightening band for the top flap attaches to the top of the flap - that means all the tension goes to the zipper of the top pocket. While I believe the zipper can easily handle this, the use of the zipper, while the bag is closed, is not convenient at all. Perhaps a short triangular top-flap extension outside the pocket area would be a better choice for the attachment.
2. one or two small tabs for carabiner attachment would be nice, but I guess I can use the velcro-attachments for that.
Anyways, besides these two wishes, I think the bag is perfect. Build quality is very high and it looks great, not to mention the usefulness!
