Comments about Primus Polaris Lantern:
When I 1st purchased this lantern it was sold under the Brunton name thru another outdoor retailer. I was only able to switch it on twice before the on/off switch failed.
When it did work, it was more than I could have hoped for but securing a replacement from that other outfit practically took an act of Congress.
This would never happen with REI.
With the massive power outage last summer that put all of So. Calif. in darkness for many hours, this was a God send. Fired up my camp stoves in the garage, hung this from the rafter, plugged my MP3 player into my portable camp speakers to fix dinner. Life goes on.
Compared to most small LED lamps, thanks to the smooth clear globe this has a very uniform light pattern, none of the irritating shadows so many other have. On the high postion the light output rivals a gas powered lantern, on low is perfect for inside a tent.
