The REI Member Dividend

The Black Diamond Momentum SA climbing harness package sets you up for a season full of rock climbing in the gym, at the crag or in the mountains.
- Package includes all the basics: a climbing harness, ATC belay/rappel device, locking carabiner, chalk bag and 100g of chalk
- Harness features a lightweight aluminum Speed Adjust buckle at the waist that is prethreaded for quick and secure 1-handed operation
- trakFIT leg adjustments feature simple slide adjusters along the leg-loop webbing; trakFIT is quick and easy to adjust and requires no doubling back
- Bullhorn-shaped waistbelt with Dual Core Construction™ features 2 separate bands of webbing that distribute pressure while allowing great breathability
- Abrasion-resistant nylon, breathable mesh, EVA foam padding and a soft lining material create excellent comfort
- 4 pressure-molded gear loops are reinforced with nylon webbing to provide excellent racking space with high strength
- Rear elastic straps adjust easily and can be released
- Black Diamond Momentum SA climbing harness has a rear haul loop that is rated at 12kN
- Package includes a Black Diamond anodized ATC belay device that lets you enjoy smooth rappels and secure belays; ideal for 8 - 11mm diameter ropes
- Screwgate locking carabiner has large internal dimensions; easy to use with any belay device
- Midsize Black Diamond chalk bag makes chalking up fingertips easy; 100g of Black Diamond White Gold chalk included

I'm a beginner into climbing so I don't have other rigs to compare this to, but so far it has been what I had expected. Just a basic harness that does what I need. The REI employee that helped me with this pick is an avid climber and Petzl fan and said that this will be her next harness.

I bought this because of the bang for your buck factor. Plus, it was everything I needed to get started. Harness is comfortable, ATC is.. well.. it's an ATC it does it's job. My only gripe is the chalk bag is very small. I have large hands so normally I woulnd't comment as I may be biased, but other people wrote the same reviews so the small bag probably affects others as well.

Basically agree with all the other reviews. Great choice for getting into the sport. Comfortable, easy to use, lightweight. Caribeaner is basic but fine. Chalk bag is only so-so but is essentially free in the package so is fine to start, but buy a cheap extra caribeaner to attach it.

I have recently gotten into climbing at gyms relatively frequently and wanted to get set up with my own gear. This package deal comes with pretty much everything you would need to climb at a gym (minus shoes). The one drawback is I wasn't such a big fan of the string that came with the chalk bag, but I was able to acquire a nicer buckle pretty easily. Overall I have been very impressed with the equipment especially considering the price.

I recently bought a membership for a local rock climbing gym where they sell this same product for 15% more. Despite the increased cost at the gym, the harnesses are seen everywhere. The package is an ideal buy for those who are just starting to get into climbing, like myself. I have been climbing off and on for a decade or so and I really want get more invested in indoor as well as outdoor climbing. The Black Diamond Momentum Package has exactly everything that I was looking for to get started in the gym such as: harness, atc, locking carabiner, chalk bag, and chalk. Everything after that will be building a rack for outdoor climbing!

A pretty solid deal here. The Black Diamond Momentum harness is a pretty comfortable and affordable harness. My only gripe with the packaged combo, which prevented my review from being five stars, is that I was unable to get the chalk bag pictured. The chalk bag that was included is a medium size, which is little small for my hands and not the orange color. But in reality, it is not of much concern since the packaged deal basically makes the bag free.

Great beginners harness package. The harness itself it comfortable and fits well. I climb for about 2-3 hours three times a week and it doesn't get uncomfortable at all. The belay device and carabiner are nice. The chalk bag however is a not that great, it's not horrible it's just really small. if you have large hands its a pain to use while climbing.

This harness is PERFECT for someone getting into the sport! Leg loop buckles are simple, dont require to be double backed, and are A.I.F (adjustable in "flight"). Just slide to tighten and slide to loosen. This harness is so simle a caveman can do it! Very helpful for the overwhelmed beginner that can very easily forget those safety checks of putting on the harness. Front buckle is also a self locking buckle, not requiring to be double backed.A plus in itself but may be harder to take off, especially if your hands are weak from a day of climbing...
