The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Snow Peak Hozuki LED Lantern with Candle Mode:
This little lamp is so cute. I was amazed at how much light it puts out. My husband was skeptical at first that a light so small could produce enough light to work by, but he changed his mind after using it once.

But this product for when I go car camping. It was cheeky for a while, but then stopped working. Replaced batteries and still will not function properly [only flashes when i turn it on] I'll be returning it. It was a very cool lamp while it worked. If I had been a little gentler with it may still be working great, but I'm not gentle with my products.

Comments about Snow Peak Hozuki LED Lantern with Candle Mode:
A great little lamp. We used it as a tent lamp on last summer's 3 week camping trip, hung from an overhead loop. The light quality is pleasant and nicely adjustable; it doesn't get hot; it's easy to store (we stored it in a hard plastic food container for protection). It's not tremendously bright, but with the semi-transparent flexible shade, it lights a fairly big area, and it was more than sufficient for our needs. A lot of lights are much too bright for small areas like a tent or a car, but this was just right, especially given that you can adjust the brightness. We did not usually use it at max level in our 4-person tent, and found it useful even at the dimmest setting for times when you just want enough light to see to move around. It lasts a long time on standard alkaline batteries, but we usually used it with rechargeables that we recharged every couple days via a solar panel. Didn't try any use-time tests, but it lasts longer than you'd think. We weren't interested in the candle mode, we just wanted a normal light. Hanging is best, but you can just set it on a surface if you need a little area of light or haven't found a place to hang it yet.
We used it at home a few times during power outages too.
My only complaint is about the twist-apart design for replacing batteries. The top and bottom parts of the lamp must be aligned at a couple specific points (marked with triangles, but hard to see when you're actually putting it together) and the pieces mate with a very short threaded section; it can be hard to tell when the threads are properly engaged (especially in the dark). Just when you think you've got it put together right, it falls apart on your head. Not a terribly big deal, but they could have made a more secure attachment. Once you actually put it together right, it stays together until the next time you need to get at the batteries.
Aside from that minor issue and the relatively high price, it's still a great lamp. My first reaction was that the cost was excessive for what you get, but after actually using it, I'm thoroughly satisfied and would happily buy another if it got lost or broken.

Comments about Snow Peak Hozuki LED Lantern with Candle Mode:
I have to admit, I'm a sucker for Snow Peak's beautifully designed products. When I saw the Hozuki announced on their website, I freaked out and knew I had to have one. Am I happy with it? You bet.
I was somewhat skeptical about its overall light output when using it in a larger car-camping tent, but that's a non-issue. I don't need to run it at full power to provide plenty of light for a larger (4-6 person) tent. The candle/flicker mode provides awesome ambiance and plenty of light, as well. The silicone globe diffuses the light softly and is quite durable. Overall construction is very solid. The little on/off/dimmer button is also a low-battery indicator, glowing red when the battery is ready to die. Battery life is great.
Downsides? For a small battery-powered lantern, it seems a bit pricey. The only other con might be size/weight. I guess some people would use this for backpacking, but it would definitely take up more space in my pack and add more weight than I'm willing to spare for a luxury like a lantern. I use it strictly for car camping, and for that application, it's awesome. I love this little lantern.

Great light quality and color. I usually get this light as high as possible to illuminate a big area. Very nice diffused light. Like a warm glow.

Comments about Snow Peak Hozuki LED Lantern with Candle Mode:
Yes, [$] is a foolishly high price tag for a battery powered lantern. That said this is one of the best products I've ever splurged on. If you enjoy camping, particularly in the fall when an earlier sunset and perhaps a fire ban leave you with a few hours before you can consider going to bed, this is by far the best quality of light to while away the evening. No, it is not the super soft glow of an incandescent bulb, given that it's still far better the tinny blue light of other headlamps and lanterns. I've used it in a 112 sqft 8 person tent or in a cozy 30 sqft 2 person tent. This is a well designed product and bright enough to use inside or outside a tent. I would confidently recommend it to anyone facing camping throughout the year and seeking a great light.

Comments about Snow Peak Hozuki LED Lantern with Candle Mode:
The lantern was nice at first, with it's candlelight option and built in dimmer, but became frustrating when it would not turn on even after replacing the batteries and reconnecting the battery pack in the two possible ways it will fit together. [...]I returned the light and I am still shopping for an alternate lantern that will supply the 100 lumens that this light was producing when it worked. I should also add that I called Snowpeak to see if they could solve the problem with the first lantern and they recommended that I should exchange it. Their representative did admit that he has had a similar problem with his own lantern! It's a nice lantern in theory, but totally unreliable.

I love Snow Peak gear and have always been impressed with the performance of their gear until now. It is well constructed. The candle mode is useless, I don't know if it is the pitch of my voice, but every time I spoke the lamp would shut off. The regular mode performs good. the light output is medium and typical of other small lanterns. The silicone collects dirt horribly. I returned it, secondary to not worth the price to me. To me it is a nice lantern and I would purchase it and keep it for about a 1/3 of the price.

Comments about Snow Peak Hozuki LED Lantern with Candle Mode:
The quality of the material is up to what you'd expect from a snow peak product.
However, the first thing I noticed was that the light of the lantern is actually not as incandescent-like as you see in in all the product shots and snow peak videos. It's a regular white LED light that is a bit diffused by the milky silicone shade.
Overall the lantern is very powerful ... now the catch: A big selling point for me was the candle light mode. It works but the snow peak engineers thought it would be funny if the light would also turn off is you tip it too much, bump it, or make a very load noise. That's funny the first time, the second time it'd kinda unwelcomed, the third time it starts to get annoying.
I bet they will take that turn-off function out in the next generation.
At list price I'd say this light is not worth it. If you get a good REI deal, then maybe.
It's stylish, clean looking, and powerful ... your call.
