The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Rated5out of5byElsaHfromperfect size for what is importantPerfect bag for everyday and everything. Fit's the essentials plus more! I love that I can switch the strap from left shoulder to right. Outside straps hold sweatshirt snug too. I would love one in every color but the black is great.

Rated5out of5bymidnightxserenadefromLove it!The bag is able to fit my wallet, water bottle, and a book. There's a few separate slots and pockets where my phone, ID and other small items (earphones, pen, etc.) can be separated out and not get lost in the larger compartment. It's been great. The cross strap means that the weight isn't all sitting only on a single shoulder either.

Rated4out of5byKittehfromLove it!Love this so much, it's the perfect size for me, and super comfortable. The weight is distributed much more comfortably than a cross-body bag, which is the type of bag that this bag is replacing, for me. Great for day-long outtings.

Rated4out of5byKevin K.fromFits iPad Air but not iPhone, Galaxy etcThis is my third sling style bag. I am moving to this one from a PacSafe sling which was also awesome but left me wanting more cargo room.
The pacsafe was great for a Kindle or iPad Mini during the daily commute. When I started carrying an iPad Air, hat and gloves for winter mornings, a snack and some papers, I realized it was time for a larger sling.
In comes the Atom. It's very comfortable and sits well across the back and shoulder, even without the waist strap. It does fit the iPad Air pretty well. It's not a "perfect" fit but it's not a dealbreaker.
The real bummer about this bag is the front pocket is useless for any smartphone. It doesn't fit the Galaxy S3, iPhone 5 or even an iPod 5th Gen. It will hold a badge, bus/train card and a pocket knife or keys.
With that said, it's efficient bag for an urban commute or outing.

Rated5out of5byRoeSokefromA perfect packMy husband was using an old carry-on bag to go back and forth to the dojo just to hold his wallet, phone and keys. It just seemed over kill to me sooooo I had the idea to get this bag for him. He loves it! It is also manly enough for him to go else where with it and not look like he is carring my purse. There are just enough compartments on it that nothing gets "lost" trying to find. I may have to get one for myself!!

Rated5out of5byGeorgia PeachyfromGreat everyday bagThis bag is great for everyday if you don't need to carry a laptop or iPad. It is easy to wear and I really like being able to move it forward in crowds or when I need to get to something. The small pocket (next to the largest pocket) is perfect for an iPhone and keys. The interior mesh pocket is handy for small things. There is a nifty key "keeper" to keep your keys handy. I have never used the small pocket on the strap.
I've used this bag for day trips when sightseeing. It is great for a small camera and a guide book. If you plan on buying souvenirs you might find it too small.
The only drawback is the lack of a water bottle pocket. I can't figure out why this bag doesn't have one but the lightweight version Atom does (I tried that one and returned it. The bottle pocket on it is too small and the fabric is just too flimsy).
All that said, I am back to get this bag in a bright color. When I got the first one years ago I don't think they had bright colors. I'll keep the darker color for outdoor adventures that might be hard on a bag. I've tired other brands and bags and this one is the best I can find.

Rated1out of5byElsiebaightsfromPatagonia Atom Sling PackOne of the seams was open and I had to sew it. Not enough pockets with zippers. Zippers not sturdy enough for hard work. This bag is better suited for just shopping and easy walking. Not tough enough for me.

Rated5out of5byjimonkfromgo to bagI already have the black version so I knew I wanted another in another color. I like the green with yellow zippers and orange inside. Looks great over a black shirt or jacket. Everything I need for a day hike fits nicely in here. Room for a jacket, bottle of water, lunch, gloves, hat, and assorted other small items. Nice big zippered pocket inside holds keys, maps, etc. The outside zippered pocket is bigger than it looks and hold my camera, GPS, compass, monocular, tire gauge, and a chocolate bar. great for biking with the strap that's goes around your waist to hold it tight to your back. I also bought the lightweight version of this bag for the hot summer rides, but found it to be a bit floppy whereas this bag has more integrity and padding to it. I prefer this, but am glad to use the lightweight when temps rise. I would use this bag for a snowshoe as long as I had enough layers on for the day. I wish they made this exact style bag in a larger size that would hold a puffy layer and more winter gear. overall I am happy with the atom bag...I guess owning three of them would attest to that .
