I have had problems with sugary drinks and energy bars lately. I have been getting bloated when I consume candy bars (salted nut rolls, etc.) and sugar drinks (Gatorade). So I've been searching for an alternative and I started reading up on Hammer Nutrition products.

These solids are great. They look like they are the consistency of Tums, but they turn into a powerbar type consistancy. Kind of interesting, but they taste great. They are chewy, but I'd rather that than chalky (personal preference).

I would say the only real negative is they are decently big (maybe that's a positive) and they are chewy. It takes a bit to break them down so you can swallow them.

As far as performance goes, my tummy liked them and my body felt energized the entire time I was cycling. I took a bottle of Heed and a camelback of water on a 2.5 hr bike ride and felt great the entire time. This has not beent he case with past foods/supplements.

I think I found my endurance MTB racing nutrition!

Perpetuem solids are great for endurance athletes who will be out for two hours or more and don't have access to water or a means to carry the mix / powder version of Perpetuem. I tested this past weekend and did not open the product prior to using it. It was a HUGE surprise to see how big the solids are (this is why I gave 4 out of 5 stars). The solids took up my entire mouth (which was not great since I also have braces). I will use these for my upcoming endurance race but will have to cut them in quarters prior so that I can better chew them. I would highly recommend this product for any endurance athlete in conjunction with other Hammer Nutrition products.
