Comments about Old Town Vapor 10XT Kayak:
Recently got back to paddling, several decades older and a lot heavier. Grew up in a big tandem kitbuilt with long heavy paddles. First time out in the Vapor, it felt like paddling a dishpan--slow, goosey in crosswinds, and just very very light. After some more practice with it I'm respecting it a lot more. It took a beating on some small rapids with grace and was nice enough not to dump me out even when I deserved it. It's stable and tracks fairly well for a little boat but turns well when it has to. Lots of room in it, more bungees than I know what to do with, hubby is jealous of the covered hatch. It's light enough that I can carry and load it myself, though not by much. The seat isn't it's best feature--it feels good when adjusted but slips into a recline pretty quickly every time. I find it a bit hard to get in and out of, but that's probably my size and conditioning more than the boat. And I do think it's on the slow side. But for a versatile reentry boat I can grow with and don't have to worry about banging into rocks, it's doing fine.
