Comments about Dajo Ascent Knife:
I like to carry a pocket knife all the time, and I prefer one that opens with one hand. For ordinary daily tasks, I don't need anything fancy, so I aimed for this less expensive knife. I'm very impressed at the quality of this knife and can't believe it cost so little. I have a $60 Columbia River knife, and this one feels every bit as well made.
It opens smoothly, has no play in the blade, and locks in place tightly, again with no play. The liner lock works smoothly. The thumb stud is comfortable to use, and MUCH more comfortable in my pocket than the thumb studs on many other knives I've owned that stick out past the handle and poke into my leg. The blade feel robust for such a small knife, and I was able to get it extremely sharp (shaves hair on my arm, will shave off a thin layer of a piece of paper while not cutting all the way through).
The best feature of this knife is its width. I have tried a number of small one-hand openers, and all of them are very hard to handle because there's so little handle for your fingers to grip while your thumb opens the blade. This knife has the width of a larger knife, so there's plenty to grab hold of, and it opens very comfortably. I sometimes find that a knife much longer than this one feels uncomfortable in my pocket, but the extra width does not make this one any less comfortable.
My only complaint is that the textured scales on the handle that provide such good grip make it harder to clip on the hem of a pocket than a smooth knife would be. As it is, I usually prefer to just carry it inside my pocket, so this doesn't matter much to me, but someone wanting to clip it to their pocket might be less happy with that.
Though I don't need a lot of frills, when it comes to basic quality and functionality, I'm picky and easily disappointed with the quality of knives in particular. If I had paid $50 for this knife, I would have been pleased with the quality I got for my money, so at a third of the price, I would highly recommend this knife to anyone. My primary motivation for writing this review is that I want people to buy this knife so something like it is still around the next time I buy a knife.

Great little knife, it completes my ultralight kit. Sharp enough to gut fish, cut rope, sharpen stick, etc.

Great little knife. Would be a nice backup to your main knife when camping or hiking, or a sturdy everyday piece. What's not to like at this price? To borrow a phrase from another hobby, "Everything works as it should." I bought mine direct from [@] before REI carried them more than 2 years ago and I've had zero issues.

Comments about Dajo Ascent Knife:
This is a great overall knife. It's something I use as an everyday tool that's great for cutting cardboard, rope, and anything else you might encounter. It fits nicely in the hand and is very easy to carry.
My only complaint is the quality of the steel. The knife did not come with a very sharp edge at all. After some work on a wet stone I was able to shave hairs off my arm, however the edge did not last very long.
At the end of the day when comparing price and portability this is a tough knife to beat.

Comments about Dajo Ascent Knife:
This knife is very simple, with the only frill(s) being the hidden tweezers in the handle. However, that does not stop this knife from being excellent! When trying to keep pack weight low or my pockets light this has become one of my "go to" knives. Very sturdy build quality with smooth lock-up and perfect blade centering when closed. Mine came razor sharp and the edge is easy to touch up when needed. Overall this knife would be a great addition to any collection, and one I recommend every hiker check out.
