it is great jacket but i got the black and the initial "shedding" period of the down feathers made the jacket look very shoddy

Comments about The North Face Destiny Down Jacket - Women's:
I purchased this for Christmas time 2012 till now. I like the color and got lots good comments from others too. It is warm and easy to dry when you sweat. I had skiing more than 10 times with it and it was durable with only one cut by my ski sharp edge accidentally. It is also much lighter than my Columbia one. The only disadvantage is that the hood can not adjust to fit the helmet I wear when it snows crazy. So the snow may accumulate inside the hood and dump back to the neck when you lean very forward on skiing slope. But it doesn't bother me and I simply wear fleece or mask cover the neck area.

Comments about The North Face Destiny Down Jacket - Women's:
I love the fit of this coat. It does seem to run a bit small compared to my other North Face coats, but it does make it quite cozy. I love the features on this jacket...the hood has a bit of a "bill" to keep out the elements, the sleeves have a cuff to keep the chill out and pockets are lined in warm fleece. My issue with this coat is what everyone else has said...the feathers come out! I too bought this in black so the feathers are quite noticeable on both the coat and other things that I sit against. I am thinking about contacting North Face warranty dept to see what they can do as this is not up to normal North Face standards.

I read that another buyer had the same problem with losing a lot of feathers. I am really bummed since I love the jacket and really don't want to return it. I bought it in black so the white feathers are quite noticeable.

Comments about The North Face Destiny Down Jacket - Women's:
I fell in love with the style of this jacket and it is very warm. I just needed it for every day use, but after wearing it for one day I have little white feathers on everything. They seem to be coming out of a lot of the seams and there is even a little hole where they are coming out. I plan on returning this very soon and am very bummed because it was the only jacket I loved at the store.

Comments about The North Face Destiny Down Jacket - Women's:
I fell in love with this jacket when I walked into REI last winter, but I had gifts to buy for others and a pricey coat for me was not on my list. On another trip to the store later on, I just happened upon the after winter coat sale! My coat was hanging on the rack waiting for me at more than half off! I love it when that happens!
Fast forward a few months to October and I took my coat on it's maiden voyage into the Sequoia backcountry for my annual women's gathering. Rain, hail, sleet, snow, frost and ice. My coat kept me toasty. I even slept in it! However, on my first day of wear as I was standing near our woodstove in our makeshift kitchen, I got close to the woodstove to pour hot water. The part of my coat closest to the metal barrel (left lower panel) melted... :( WAAAH!
Duct tape got me through the rest of the week (cause I camp with well supplied women!) but I was bummed. I went back to REI and the kind folks at the Sacramento store comped me some tent tape. I kept that as a reserve but the clerk also referred me to the Northface website where they have a repair center. II WAS SO EASY TO WORK WITH THEM! I followed the advice on the website and shipped my coat to San Leandro (Fed Ex or UPS only). After about a week I was told it could be repaired but had to be dry cleaned first due to state law. They took care of everything and approx. 3 weeks later my coat was waiting on my porch when I arrived home from work. I took it out of the box and could not believe it was the same coat. If not for a mark on the inside of the back, I would swear they just sent me a new one. I now have my beautiful coat back, it looks great. Winter has arrived once again and it's going with me to Reno this weekend. As long as I don't get too close to high heat or flames, I believe I'll get years of wear out of this coat. Thank you REI and Northface, You guys rock!
