Comments about REI Sahara T-Shirt - Men's:
Perfect fit, very comfortable. The material feels thinner than the original but they're still a great all around T. Why they stopped making them in White I don't know but if anyone knows where I can get a few of them in Mens, White size XL let me know, I'll buy them up.

This is a great baselayer/undershirt. Wicks away the moisture in hot/muggy conditions and makes a nice, comfy baselayer in the colder conditions.

I would not buy this shirt again at any price. It pills at the collar VERY quickly.

Comments about REI Sahara T-Shirt - Men's:
I have had the various versions of these shirts. All are great shirts. They are lightweight, absolutely wrinkle proof, dry quickly, and don't bind. The last makes them great as undershirts. The only problem is that they are no longer available in white. Please bring back basic colors like white and black.

Best t-shirt available. bought 2 of them. would have bought atleast 10 more but they no longer come in black, in my opinion an essential color to any line-up. What gives? PLEASE BRING BACK BLACK!

Comments about REI Sahara T-Shirt - Men's:
I've had many Sahara shirts over the years. This is at least the third different style of shirt sold as a "sahara". I actually prefer this version and like the thicker material. However, I won't be purchasing any more (despite needing four or five) because they don't come in black anymore. Please make it in black again!!!!

Comments about REI Sahara T-Shirt - Men's:
Fit well, though the neck seemed to run a little large. Comes with a terrible odor that fades greatly with the first wash but doesn't completely go away even with additional washes. Smells a little chemical/synthetic if you bury your face in the shirt but not enough to notice when you're wearing it. Material is much thinner than expected but makes me warm the minute I put it on. I think the best thing about this shirt is how quickly it dries. Even when you're sweating heavily, the sweat disperses nicely through the fabric and dries quickly with a little air drying.

Comments about REI Sahara T-Shirt - Men's:
I live in NJ where Summer is hot & sticky/humid & I not only hike/backpack & camp all Summer but work outside a lot and do a lot of physical/sweaty work. I'm more prone to wearing Merino wool during my hiking/backpacking ventures but also have more technical synthetics for when things are extremely hot, so I didn't initially buy these for hiking. I've typically stayed away from synthetics since every time I've tried them I usually can't stand to be around myself after just a couple hours. Most synthetics just seem to react with perspiration and create a stink. But I've learned to abhor cotton during hot weather and don't want to destroy my expensive Merino shirts with everyday work so when I saw these on sale I decided to try a couple. Initially being for everyday summer wear I found these very comfortable, a perfect fit and started preferring them over most shirts that I had. They've been worn a lot since every time I found them in the clean laundry pile I put them right back on. They do an excellent job of wicking moisture and keeping me comfortable and after a summer of use showed no signs of wear at all. The fabric is smooth and soft, not at all plasticky like some of my more technical shirts, they actually feel quite a bit like my expensive merino wool shirts.
I'm 5'8", 175 pounds with a very athletic build.(17" neck, 44" chest just under my pits with an athletic taper to a 32" waist & muscular arms) I typically have a lot of fit issues, neck too tight, sleeves too long, overall length of shirt like a dress... This shirt, I got the medium, is spot on! If I had my choice, the sleeves would be an inch or so shorter, but they don't bother me the way they are.
Looking through other reviews I see a lot of comments about a change in fabric and people being very dissatisfied with pilling and fuzzing and lack of durability. I notice at least one of those comments shows a picture with a label saying "made in China" the label on my shirt says made in Vietnam, so there must be a difference somewhere. I couldn't tell you if this is the new fabric or old, this is the first time I've used these shirts but so long as they stay the way this one is, it will not be the last. I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for the next sale. But I'll also be looking at the label to see where it was made and make sure I'm getting the same shirts.

Comments about REI Sahara T-Shirt - Men's:
I agree with a lot of the comments of this product. The ad says it added a little weight to the shirt - per customer request. Where are these guys now? This is a 'let's take something good, replace it with something that doesn't cost as much' and tell us we will like it. The poly blend does not measure up to the old REI shirt. After a couple of washings, it looks and feels like cotton, and loses it silky feeling - unlike the old Sahara. REI - please back the old one!

Comments about REI Sahara T-Shirt - Men's:
Bah! What a disappointment! I was looking to add an additional hiking shirt to my wardrobe to complement my 'other retailers' shirt that I found on sale in my small mountain town. The reviews for this looked decent so I decided to give this a try.
I wore this for 2 days while doing a Rim to Rim trip across the Grand Canyon. The 'pilling' that others have referenced didn't really bother me, but the fact that the shirt started to wear through where my backpacks waist belt was situated was a sad discovery upon getting back home. I found that it also took a bit longer to dry than my other shirt.
While I'll admit I took it through a rough trip it would have been great if it could withstand 24 miles of backpacking.
Per REI policy I'll be washing and returning.
