Comments about REI Thetford Cargo Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
These pant are extremely comfortable. Light water beads off the material. When wet, these pants dry fast. They have pockets in just the right place. It has a knife pocket on the right side and a cell phone pocket on the right leg.

Comments about REI Thetford Cargo Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
For lounging around the house, traveling, or going into town, these pants are great - provided you get the right size. The fabric is comfortably soft and seemingly durable and the fit is relaxed yet stylish. Perhaps my issue with them stems from the fact that I wanted to use them for outdoor activities as well as casual use.
When I took these pants on a few day hikes and full-day mountain bike trips I was frustrated to find that the buttons for the side cargo pockets have flaps of fabric over them. Perhaps hiding the buttons makes them last longer or look more attractive, but nonetheless it was a nuisance to fiddle with the flaps when reaching for my sunscreen or trail map.
As for the sizing, most 30-30 pants fit me fine, so I figured these would too. At first both the waist and length were too large, but the waist shrank to a comfortable size in the wash while the length did not. This is fine for hiking because the legs don't reach down past my hiking boots, but with casual shoes or sandals the legs tend to drag on the ground. On the upside, the bottom of the legs have drawstrings which are useful for tying the legs into a position to avoid a pesky bike chain or your feet if you were to go rock climbing.
Ultimately I would recommend finding a cargo pant that fits better and is more practical for outdoor use than these are.

Comments about REI Thetford Cargo Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
This comment is mainly about the fit. Unlike others here, I think these pants fit great. You will love them if you are long waisted or just like some room in the crotch, butt, and legs.
Also, as others have said, the pants have a lot of big, secure pockets and are built of very tough material.

Comments about REI Thetford Cargo Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
I agree with another reviewer. The crotch/rise on a 32X30 is way to long and the 32" waist is actually more like a 33"/34". I ended up returning the pants. I tried a 30X30 which fit perfect in the crotch/rise and the length was spot on but the waist was just a tad too snug. REI needs to make this pant in odd sizes and shorten up the crotch/rise accordingly for all sizes.
I like everything about this pant except for the sizing issues. I need cargo capacity and these pants fit the bill perfectly but unfortunately I am a tweener.. Not a 32" nor a 30". I normally wear a 32"X30 in every kind of pant with very few issues.
Anyway, I would recommend the pants but make sure you can live with the odd sizing issues.

Comments about REI Thetford Cargo Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
In concept, I love these pants. Love the look, material and construction. I'm pretty average in size - 5'9" and 155 lbs. The rise wasn't adjusted to fit a 30" inseam (I suspect that the rise is the same as for the 32" and 34" inseam pants). As a result, if you jack them up so they fit correctly in the crotch the pants are way too short (not to mention that the waist is unnaturally high). If you wear them as they naturally fall, the leg break isn't comfortable for hiking (I haven't tried them backpacking yet). They're a bit too baggy in the seat/thighs to use as casual pants around town in my opinion so they fall into no-mans land for me. I'd still recommend them to friends (but tell them to try them on in the store before purchasing).
Service and delivery comments:
Prompt delivery as usual for REI.

Comments about REI Thetford Cargo Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
I really like the cotton + nylon blend for hiking pants. Nylon alone is too thin and flimsy feeling, and cotton alone is too heavy and slow to dry. The cotton/nylon blend gives you the best of both worlds.
These pants are well-designed and well-made and have lots of pockets. They seem slightly big though, I usually can't fit into 32x30 (I wear 33x30), but I can fit in these. Like another reviewer said, REI needs to offer more colors!! The olive green color is fine for outdoors, but they would look somewhat out of place elsewhere. A khaki color would be great, a gray color would be great too.

Comments about REI Thetford Cargo Pants - Men's 30" Inseam:
Finally a Cargo pant that has secure pockets (Beware of Pick Pockets and Loose Women), and where you need them. And no Hook and Loop wear out; it is much easier to replace a button then hook and loop.
Now REI, you just need some different colors (Dark Khaki, Khaki, etc.)!
