    These pants are super for temps in the mid 20s up to around 40F when worn alone. A light pair of thermals underneath would keep life pleasant down to much lower temps. The windstopper front panels work extremely well to cut the chill air you are heading into. Windstopper is supposed to stretch a little, and while it does to some degree, it is not as soft and stretchy as some other windproof fabrics. It is very effective at stopping air without being clammy, and with the nice articulated cut of these pants there is no binding when you are running, etc. If you crouch down the fabric will pull tight, so it is not as soft and pliable as non-shell materials. The fabric in back is a nice mid-density woven material with a smooth face and compliments the windstopper front well. The waist band has elastic in it, though it could use some adjustment and could be a bit snugger. Overall the fit is athletic. It is nearly tight against my thighs and seat and tapers below the knee. I would describe the fit as loose tights. The stitching is flat lock nearly throughout and the sewing is well done. I'm 5' 11" with a 34" waist and 32-33" inseam and the size large pants fit me perfectly. I would say these pants would work well for fall/winter running, XC skiing, and mountain biking.
