I love these pants and 10P are a perfect fit (5'1" 130 lbs). I wish you would make other colors! I would buy multiple pairs.

I wore them to work on casual days, and then after work headed right to the trails for an hour of ski touring. Really comfortable gear!

Comments about REI Mistral Pants - Women's Petites:
I bought these for a snow camping trip I went on recently. I've been looking for a pair of soft shell pants that wouldn't break the bank. These pants fit perfect. The petite length is perfect for a shorty like me and they even fit over my snow boots. They kept me warm, although I did have a base layer underneath in camp. I never felt restricted and they moved well with me on snowshoes.

Comments about REI Mistral Pants - Women's Petites:
So glad to have found these pants! They are my new favorite and have replaced my jeans - I even ordered a second pair as "backup". Nice fabric, lots of pockets (that zip close, and really appreciate that these do not have annoying flaps on the back ones), and I like the snap closure at waistband much better than a button/buttonhole.
The fabric is easy to put on, even with damp skin (I wear these after paddling.) The black color (to me) is not a true black, but close enough. I would love to get these in a medium-dark blue, or gray color too. I am 5-1, 110 lbs. with a 27" waist and 35" hip. I have the size 2. The waistband hits 2" below my navel but was a bit loose so I use a belt and it then fits 1" below navel, which I prefer so I don't get a blast of cold air. Fits nicely through hip/thigh/knee - no puckers or bagging. I don't mind the articulated knees and the length is perfect - a rarity for me.
The stretch in the fabric makes for a comfortable all-day long fit. I can sit in these for long car drives/plane flights - nothing pinches or binds even when sitting cross-legged on floor or doing a deep squat. They travel well: I have squashed them into a backpack and they look great (no wrinkles) when I take them out. Wash and wear beautifully. I might use my dividend to buy another backup pair!
And the only reason I didn't give this 5 stars was because I wish the rise was just a bit higher. Other than that, perfect!!!

Comments about REI Mistral Pants - Women's Petites:
I bought these pants, looking for a softshell at last to xc ski in. The fit is perfect—I love REI pants because the designers understand that many women who like to play outside have serious glutes and quads. I have a small waist and am perpetually looking for pants that don't gap; these do just the trick.
It snowed all day yesterday, and with a pair of long johns underneath, I stayed warm and dry, and never overheated. I do agree that they stretched out a bit by the end of the day, but they didn't affect performance.
I came online to find out what the pants were really intended for and had to laugh. Don't be fooled, these are perfect for skiing—provided you're not obsessed with only wearing gear designed for specific sports!

Comments about REI Mistral Pants - Women's Petites:
I love the functionality of these pants. They are super stretchy, block the wind well, kept me warm on a 3-day backpacking trip and they roll up well when you get hot. However, I wish they would not be as high-wasted. I'm 5.4, 135 lbs and do not have an hour glass figure. I got the size 8 so it would fit me in the waist, even though the size 6 fit better overall. I just don't like wearing pants this high up, so a lower cut would be preferred.

Comments about REI Mistral Pants - Women's Petites:
I bought these pants in the Bend REI store before a multi-purpose trip to Utah, and I wore them every time I went outdoors to play in the snow. For downhill skiing, I layered two pairs on longjohns under them and was prefectly warm. The cuffs zipped over my rental ski boots, and kept the snow out without riding up. For snowshoeing, the zipper cuffs were trim enough to enclose in gaiters. The pants were comfortable and trim. I wore them from the slopes to dinner one night, and did not feel out-of-place. I am 5'2" tall, 145 lbs, and don't have long legs for my height. The size tens fit me just fine!

Comments about REI Mistral Pants - Women's Petites:
One word "Disappointed" Had purchased a pair of Mistrals a couple of years ago and love them. The material was thicker, warmer and better quality. they were nylon and spandex only, this pair has polyester added. 1st pair I spent a couple weeks wearing while ocean kayaking, they performed. Can't say the same for the new pair. They are fine for less rigourous and warmer temps but do not feel durable, we'll see. Fit is good, they are comfortable. I would really like to see the material change back otherwise ok.

If I didn't have to take these off to wash them, I'd wear them all the time! I highly recommend them! The fit is great and they are super comfortable! I just wish REI would make them in MORE COLORS! Blue, kakhi, brown, olive, gray? Please make more colors for us! I want more!!!

Comments about REI Mistral Pants - Women's Petites:
I too owned the previous version of these pants, and have to say the changes are more than welcome! Last version was baggy and too long, but I bought them because there is so little available for petites. However, the current version is perfect for me! They are the right length and fit. However, in the old I was an 8 and in these I am a 10. (No wonder women go crazy trying to find clothes that fit.)
I am 5'2", 128 lb. and the current 10 is perfect for me. I wear them on warmer winter days, early spring, and late fall for power walking and snowshoeing.
