The waterproof Motorola Talkabout MS350R 2-way radios are by no means fairweather friends. They offer high-performance communications in all kinds of extreme outdoor situations—and they float!

    • IP-67 waterproofness repels moisture, heavy precipitation and splashes and helps protect radios if submerged down to 1m for up to 30 min.
    • Don't despair if your radio falls overboard; it floats and is highly visible for easy recovery
    • Radios feature hands-free iVOX communication, 121 privacy codes, auto squelch, quiet-talk filter, priority scan, volume control, battery meter and talk confirmation beep
    • 10 call tones, keypad tones, vibrate mode, keypad lock, backlight, built-in flashlight, auto power off and push-to-talk power boost make these radios user-friendly
    • 22 GMRS channels offer a range of up to 35 miles (per manufacturer); range is based on an unobstructed line of sight between you and another radio operator in good weather
    • Headset jack connectors make it easy to use the Motorola MS350R 2-way radios with your favorite Motorola audio accessories (sold separately)
    • Sleek yet functional design fits snugly in the palm of your hand; grippy ridges on the housing help prevent slips and drops
    • Repeater function lets you carry your signal farther when you use built-in repeater channels 15R-22R (GMRS license and accessible repeater station needed)
    • 11 weather channels (7 NOAA) alert you to incoming storms and dangerous conditions with local and regional broadcasts
    • Battery life is approximately 27 hrs. (3 AA alkaline) or 9 hrs. (NiMH rechargeable)
    • The Motorola MS350R 2-way radios come with 2 belt clips, 1 drop-in charger, 1 charging adapter, 2 NiMH rechargeable battery packs and an emergency preparedness checklist

MS350R radios operate on radio frequencies that are regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC); license and fees required.

Comments about Motorola Talkabout MS350R 2-Way Radios - 2 Pack:

Probably one of the best GMRS radios as of the time of this writing. Both have gotten wet while in use (one fell off the clip while getting in/out of a boat and floated, and the other while beaching the boat to shore, had to jump into the water) and remained functional with nothing more than several shakes to get water out of the microphone/speaker areas.

I prefer items that use AA batteries versus AAA batteries, and many of the GMRS radios use AAA, so this one is appreciated. This is so I only need to carry AA spares when out and about. Also the mah capacity of AA batteries (typically 2000-2700mah) is much greater than that of AAA (typical 700-900mah). I do NOT like the fact that it uses 3 AA batteries, would have preferred sets of 4. That may have given it one more star. Also this kit includes a desktop drop in charger. This is a dumb trickle charger and not a smart charger, so don't leave the radios sitting in there more than 12 hours or so or you may cook the rechargeable batteries and shorten their capacity and life. The capacity of the included rechargeable battery packs is a bit low in capacity/mah, and the low battery alarm shows occasionally. Also had the devices shut off occasionally, but believe that was due to the battery packs not having been through several cycles yet.

Best clips, though flimsy, are good to have. The quick disconnect feature (i.e. press down on the button on the top of the clip and radio pops forwards) is convenient. I prefer this to the fixed clips on certain radios, where you have to play with the radio to get it off the belt. Also easier to get it back on the belt, as it just snaps on, no need to spread the clip and loop onto belt.

Comments about Motorola Talkabout MS350R 2-Way Radios - 2 Pack:

The radios are good. Have not had an issue with them at all. But in less than 2 months, the belt loop clips on both radios broke with moderate hiking use. When I called Motorola, they said that they could send out a One Time Free set of clips. I was a bit upset that it was going to be One Time only, so hopefully nothing else will fail on their units.

Comments about Motorola Talkabout MS350R 2-Way Radios - 2 Pack:

I have used many radios in the past, but this one is the best so far. It is a bit bigger but for that you get a lot of ruggedness and the buttons are super easy to use. I use the radios a lot around the water and with these I don't have to worry if they fall in. Our last camping trip we got hosed and the radios helped get everyone back to base soon without worrying about the radios not functioning. The flashlight turned out to be very useful at night for bathroom breaks.
