Comments about Adventure Medical Kits Slim Rescue Howler Whistle - Package of 2:

I picked these up looking for an alternative to my Fox 40 Micro (a.k.a. SOL Rescue Howler at REI). I wanted something slim/small but which took less lung-power to make sound (you really have to blow your lungs out with the Fox 40 Micro).

These are about the thickness of 5 stacked pennies, and it's definitely much easier to get sound out of them with the force you would expect when blowing a standard whistle. They don't include a neck lanyard, which I consider a con given the price, and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. I used a neck lanyard from a Photon Freedom Keychain LED and that does the trick nicely. Even if you don't wear it around your neck, it's better to have something attached to it to make it easier to grab. In an emergency situation, you're much less likely to drop it if is has a lanyard or string attached.
