The waterproof Black Diamond Storm headlamp is built to withstand the worst weather, because the last thing you need when caught in a storm is for your headlamp to die.
- Headlamp features a TriplePower LED that outputs up to 100 lumens and throws a beam up to 70m so you can locate the hiking trail at night
- 2 SinglePower white LEDs and 2 SinglePower red LEDs output 25 lumens and throw a beam up to 20m
- Use the red LEDs to preserve night vision while hanging out at camp or making your way down the trail
- Dimmer switch lets you choose the light output needed for the task at hand, from a blazing 100 lumens down to 25 lumens
- Use the 2 strobe functions to flash red or white light
- Sleek headlamp operates on 4 AAA batteries, included; Heatsink technology keeps the batteries warm for long burn times
- 4 AAA batteries provide up to 50 hrs. of use on high and 200 hrs. on low; battery indicator light helps you determine how much battery power you have left

I really that the headlamp offers several adjustments you can make (dimmer, red light, change the light's angle). The red light is great because it doesn't disturb those around you quite as much as the white light during those middle of the night bathroom runs. Also it is nice because you can lock lamp so it doesn't accidentally get turned on in your pack. My only con is that it is relatively a little bulkier than some other lamps.

This light is outstanding, its bright, the battery lasts forever, I have even mountain biked at night with this thing on. BUT mine straight up stopped working after a year, I didn't buy mine from REI (I am now an REI member)

This was my first headlamp and was a gift. I wasnt really interested at first in having something strapped to my forehead but after playing around with this for some time I carry it around all the time and even use it around the house. Recently exchanged it for the Diamond Revolt and so far they seem to be exactly the same light except the revolt is rechargeable and also takes one less AAA if i use standard batteries. Its a good light but I would say going the extra ten dollars for the Revolt is more worth the money. Awesome first light though.

I already have a Black Diamond Gizmo headlamp (3 LEDs, 2 AAA batteries) that I'm happy with. I bought a Storm headlamp using my 20% off coupon and my dividend, I thought waterproof and red LED would be cool features to have. I didn't care about the high power LED mode, that was just a bonus.
I ended up returning the Storm as it just wasn't comfortable on my noggin, YMMV. The IIRC the Storm weighs about 4oz with batteries and the headband was loose - when I had it tightened enough that it wouldn't slip on my head it put uncomfortable pressure on my forehead.
I'm giving it 3 stars because I didn't find it comfortable, otherwise I'd probably give it 4 stars.

I NEVER write comments, usually it's a waste of my own time. But i HAD to write one for this headlamp. I use this headlamp on my fire helmet to free up the weight and my hands during operations. While in a fire a few nights ago, myself and another guy were under so much heat that our helmet visors melted along with some other parts. The fire cam we had (made for heat) also briefly stopped working from the heat, but worked later after cooling off. This headlamp, NOT A MARK ON IT. The elastic band that holds it on which I was skeptical about withstood all the head. The band should have snapped off like my partners did, cheap one made from the bunny battery company for 20 bucks. The lamp, worked flawless. Nothing melted on the device at all. SO, if your looking for duribility, this is the one. The 100Lumens is bright yet doesnt have the bulky battery pack the older brother model has at 200Lumens. I would like to see a green light added in the future, but this is the lamp of choice for me. Works great with hiking, camping, literally anything. Haven't brought it underwater yet but it withstood the water from our hose lines so thats a plus.

This was an "impulse buy", actually. Now I wish I bought another.
The main lamp on full power is blinding. In "flood" mode it was still plenty bright enough to easily see 25 - 30 feet ahead on a moonless night and the red light is sufficient for moving around the camp site, it also seems to make the reflective strips in reflective cordage really stand out.
There's only one button and it's not very intuitive so be sure to look at the instructions.
